When the team is playing like shit the calls are God awful, and so are the Rangers responses. Is this a Sox bought an paid for segment?

Thanks. I understand it is hard remembering how to spell show. I often want to spell it as so as well.

  Thanks Walt.

In all honesty I do love the postgame show. Fans yelling at Ranger is therapeutic...and hilarious. good dolphin needed to call in today.

Isn't it similar to Doug and OB after Bears games? So many love their show, but it seems so many hate Rongey's show.

Rongey is PAID by the White Sox.
OB and Buffone are PAID by WSCR, and when the Bears suck, they are free to rip them a new asshole.
If I were Rongey, I would rather be a war correspondent in Afghanistan than do that inane post game show with idiot brain dead callers phoning in from bars and pysch wards.

Especially since your main baseball concern would be whether the Cardinals can resign Pujols.

If he were a White Sox Fan he would be so pissed off that he would be off the air in a week.
He has gone beyond the call of duty and the size of his paycheck discussing these horseshit White Sox teams of the last few seasons on the air with mope callers.

Good point about the difference in who pays them. But doesn't Rongey rip the White Sox as well? I have only listened a few times, but I have heard him be pretty critical of their play.

It just seems like a similar set up as to the Bears post game where it gives fans the chance to vent about what is happening with the team.

Maybe some of these callers would be whacking the wife if they couldn't call Rongey and scream about Adam Dunn??????
Maybe Rongey is performing a public safety service?

Aggravated, you aren't quite right. Chris Rongey is actually paid by the SCORE to host White Sox-related programming on the station. Ed Farmer & Darrin Jackson, on the other hand, are technically paid by the Sox to call these games on the radio.

That being said, while the team's postgame show is sponsored by Comcast/Xfinity, there have been times where Rongey's callers are simply out there and it's borderline embarrassing. If I want stupid callers, I'll listen to "Boers & Bernstein" and Laurence Holmes, who tend to specialize in those types of calls.

Even though White Sox broadcasts are more of a SCORE production than the Bulls are up the dial on ESPN Radio, I think there's going to reach a point where Ranger simply won't take any calls and rely on texters and/or E-mailers to pick up the slack on the team's official postgame show if the callers continue to sound stupid. The SCORE is the flagship of the TOYOTA Chicago White Sox Radio Network, and there are stations up & down the line that wonder why they're carrying the crap spewed by certain callers, especially when they lose.

The difference is that Doug & OB, especially after losses, are a Scrutiny-Free Zone where any old angry caller is allowed to vent without the typical crutches of present-day Score hosting: Doug & OB will not pounce on your mistakes, reassure you that everything is just fine, allege your underlying racism, or ask what you do for a living. Everyone's more or less allowed to get his shots in as part of the comedown from watching a football game.

This doesn't work with baseball because the Score is in a business relationship with the White Sox and because doing a Doug & OB-style show number-of-losses times a year is unthinkable and incompatible with the marathon-not-sprint nature of baseball.

Being that I loathe the White Sox, I don't listen to enough of their postgames to know how many postgames are angry group therapy, or how many should be, but I can see where a highly provincial and salt-of-the-earth fanbase might bristle at a postgame consisting of a polished radio pro from St. Louis allaying their concerns from on high.

If the post game show was cancelled how would Rangey afford his Members Only jackets from TJ Max?

This is exactly where I'm coming from on Rongey. You never heard all the jokes about crazy callers when Wills did the show on MVP. Wills is one of us. I find Rongey lecturing Sox fans distasteful. Go lecture your Cardinal fan buddies about how Pujols isn't finished.

He is critical in a very nice, soft and non-critical way, if that makes sense. Herr Ranger is truly the Minister of Propaganda for White Sox Nation.

Nothing is anyones fault, nothing can be changed, no one should or can do anything different and Ozzie is doing fine.

But, as I've said, I understand his plight and that he is backed into a corner with this show. He does the best he can and I will always give him a free pass for the cred and war wounds he endured after Rowand was packaged in the deal for Thome and sent to Philly...

I am so sick of hearing what a tough, miserable job it is to take calls about the White Sox from stupid, over-emotional fans.

Though, come to think of it, John Rooney was a polished radio pro from St. Louis, and everyone liked him. Fan interaction is a different dynamic.

Caller "Frank Thomas" Lee is getting plenty of time, and I would have dropped the call roughly twelve seconds in. Way to be understanding Ranger!

Yeah I loved how that guy told Rongey that he is also a hitter so he knows what Dunn's problem is.

I'm also a hitter, and Dunn has no concept of the strike zone.

As a karate expert, Dunn has no concept of the strike zone.

Bravo!!!!!!!!!!
The one good thing about Rangey is that he always sounds like Eddie Murphys nerdy white guy voice.

Outside of the angry callers, the Bears and White Sox postgame shows are quite different.
Dan and OB are former Bears players, and that appears to give them somewhat more credability with the listeners. Listeners believe the duo have an emotional investment with the club. Rongey is perceived as a paid shill.
Also, Dan and OB will lash out against the team. Rongey doesn't normally raise his voice.
Personally, I like both shows. I understand that the dynamics are different -- so the shows will be also.

Don't take phone calls from dopes on barstools, in dope houses, blotto behind the wheel....PERIOD.
Stop the calls from everyone. I don't give a fuck what some asshole who might buy one ticket per season thinks of "HIS" team!!!!!!!

Unfortunately, those are the type of people that feel the urge to call the show.
Postgame shows are normally about blowing off steam.
