He'll get it going. It will take 30-40 AB's though given the Quade rust. I still think the guy can play.

I think Colvin was 3-4 with a double and a triple yesterday which is great for him.

Flaherty just wont stop bidding for a promotion. He hit another bomb, 10th I think.

Colvin was 2-4 tonight with a bomb. The Iowa pitching staff continues to make James Russel (the starter version) look like Cy Young.

Some guys got some hits for the Smokies. Nothing amazing though. They won and McNutt had a so-so outing. I didn't realize they demoted Carpenter to AA.

Sources tell the Chicago Tribune that the Cubs will call up infielder D.J. LeMahieu on Monday to replace Jeff Baker (groin).

Given the rash of injuries, I would like to see a lineup of:

Brett Jackson CF
Darwin Barney SS
Starlin Castro 3B
Carlos Pena 1B
DJ LaMahieu 2B
Geo Soto, C
Brad Snyder/Lou Montanez RF
Tony Campana LF
Pitcher

Put Soriano on the DL, bring up Jackson. Bench ARam or DL him, too. Let the kids play for a few games and see what happens.

Soriano took care of himself with the quad injury today. Now get aram on the fucking bench. I am done with his tired ass act. Get DJ some reps at 3rd and get Flaherty up here to replace soriano.

ARam is as good as gone. They will get this lazy piece of shit to wave his no trade and he will go to a team in a race and shine brighter than Doris fuckin Day. Bet on it!!! And Hendry will get nothing in return !!!

They are going to have to be careful with how they deal with benching aram. He is going to try to play through his sore hammy and if they take him out he is going to be a piece of shit. They don't need his bullshit attitude influencing Castro at that point. I would probably DL him for something and ship his ass to AZ asap.

You cannot send Ramirez down doofus. His options expired long ago . You really cannot DL him either. What kind of baseball do you play? WOW!

Why can't you DL him?

I suppose you could but that takes away trade value and leverage from the Cubs. Besides the fact that he is not hurt just a skirt!!!!

why bench Ramirez anyway?

who do we have to play 3rd?

the guy thats in the way is Soriano...he has single-handedly suffocated the development of young outfielders for 5 years now, starting with good-character-guy Matt Murton

fuck Hendry

Do I seriously have to spell this out?

He is bitching about a Hammy and saying its bothering him and affecting his performance. Put him on the DL for it and send him to AZ to do his rehab instead of keeping him with the big league team where his pissing and moaning could possibly rub off on Castro. Wells and Cash went to AZ to rehab....lots of guys do....happens all the time.

From Phil Rogers column:

. Watching Alfonso Soriano can be painful, no doubt. Like a lot of Cub fans, I'm looking forward to seeing young guys like Tony Campana, Tyler Colvin and Brad Snyder get at-bats while Soriano, Marlon Byrd and Reed Johnson spend time on the disabled list. I wouln't mind a Kosuke Fukudome trade, either, as he's not going to be a part of another winning Cubs team. But then there are the hard facts, which show that no matter their flaws Soriano and Fukudome remain among the Cubs' top hitters. The Cubs have eight regulars with at least 100 at-bats, and Soriano (.823) and Fukudome (.801) are 1-2 in OPS, followed by shorstop Starlin Castro (.778). In the limited chance they've had, Campana (.572) and Colvin (.442) have totals that make it appear they will not be part of the long-term picture. It's going to be interesting to see if anyone other than Mike Quade really misses Soriano. The numbers suggest that, as shaky as he is in left field, he'll be missed

Colvin now 0 for last 31 and I would not put the whole farm system on this guy, but when he had 20 HR's, Rciketts and Hednry could not brag enough about this kid as PROOF Tim Wilkens was doing a great job.

The only thing I have seen from the Farm System is a SS and 2B that worked with Sandberg to become MLB players.

And Barney, who has been good is another 2B! is that much better than Blake DeWitt or any other journeyman you ca fill in for $1.2 Mill? Finding a great 2B is a huge plus for a team, but to find a good fielding 2B, that can steal some bases and is a sound singles hitter is really not an accomplishment any GM should ever brag about.

Don't dare give Sandberg any credit. For some reason he is hated on this board.

I haven't given up on Colvin yet but he is ticketed for the bench once Byrd and Soriano return unless they can move Fukudome or Pena. I'd like to see him get at least 30 days playing every day to see if he can regain that power stroke.

Cubs draft HS SS Javier Baez with 9th Pick... bit of a surprise. Projected as a 3B, so see you later Vitters.

Very much a Tim Wilken pick. Riskier than taking a college place since he's only 18. Projected to move out of SS as well. Definitely doesn't mean the end of Vittters considering the age diff and our need at 1b too.

A Ricketts pick because it'll be a low cash signing. This is what the Cubs are now: a debt ridden joke needing a miracle.

I agree

I like barney, but they always mention "Castro and Barney" as some kind of core to build around...Castro, sure, but barney? ur gonna act like Barney is a symbol of ur "great" farm system? especially when he wasnt even a guarantee to make the team?

what a joke

The Phillies built around Howard, Utley, Rollins, Burrell, etc...Victorino and Werth were bonuses for them but would outfuck Barney anyday on our team

I give you shit 99% of the time, so figured I'd mention when you make a point I agree with. They are getting lucky with Barney. I don't think anyone really knows what to expect going forward. If he does end up being around a .300 singles hitter who plays plus defense you definitely have a guy you can have in your lineup obviously
