Great episode. Khal Drogo is starting to grow on me.

It's been a decade since I read GoT... I have a few questions about the difference from the book:
1) Did Petyr own the brothel or just a regular patron?
2) Did Renly suggest the move to separate Cersei from Joffrey?
3) Did Theon speak with the wildling captive? Was there even a wildling captive? (SPOILER ALERT POSSIBLY shaded)... is that who Bran escapes with when things go to shit at Winterfell?

1--yes, owned several
2--yes
3--I believe so and yes to the spoiler alert

i'm about 100 pages into "swords" already and i can already tell it's going to be a great book. looks like with this one martin really hits the stride, and there's so much going on.

it's kinda weird to go back to GOT now that the narrative has progressed so far. but it's also a nice refresher.

Storm of Swords is great. Nice ending too... only sad part is you're going to go on to A Feast for Crows. The good news is that you'll be able to read Dance with Dragons (essentially the other half of Feast for Crows) soon thereafter because its suppose to come out in June/July?

yeah i've heard "crows" isn't a fun read. but neither was "order of the phoenix" and i got through that..."swords" may take a while so i'll enjoy it while it lasts.

this is definitely not breezy summer reading, that's for sure.

I really disliked Crows until the last 100 pages or so, it redeemed itself at the end though.

Crows gets a bad rap. It isn't as action packed as the other 3, but for good reason. The political machinations are still prevalent and the added element of a major religion becoming a player is pretty significant.

Plus it is only half a book. In hindsight I am guessing Martin is hating his decision to publish it that way.

me too. Part of the reason why Feast is a bit infuriating to read is because John Snow and Dany are arguably some of the most interesting characters... and you want to hear about how they are doing.

It's great hearing him talk. And his goofy hat makes me chuckle.

i like the actress they picked for sansa, and her performance was very good in tonight's episode. it was well written by martin (who has experience in TV writing) and well paced.

i also like the casting for robb. he's definitely got those firey eyes.

great episode.

Agreed.

Loved the scene at the end when the "Old Man" Head of the Kings Guard got told he needed to go into retirement and had no choice about it....his reaction and speech were priceless. I also noticed the very inquisitive look on Petyr's face when the Spider was talking about "showing mercy" and wisdoms from babes...

Next episode looks awesome as well.

By far the best episode so far. The pacing, writing, everything. The scene with the Ravens leaving Winterfell to call the banners was awesome.

My only complaint is the timeline - viewers who haven't read the book must be wondering how people are getting to places so fast. One scene Robb is in Winterfell with Bran and then next he is in the Riverlands and Catelyn meets up with him somehow when the last scene she was in she was in the Eyrie.

Good casting choice for GreatJon Umber too. And the guy playing Robb is perfect - that look he gave Catelyn telling her to STFU with his eyes was great. Looking forward to the Whispering Wood!

Oh and the guy playing Tywin I was unsure of last week with that dumb scene of him skinning a stag (yes I get the imagery, but not something Tywin would do - he doesn't get his hands dirty, thats why he has dogs). But this week the scene with him and Tyrion was excellent and his little facial expressions were spot on.

Man next week should be 2 hours! :)

PS - Still no Blackfish. Very sad panda...

When Catelyn showed up at Robb's camp with just Ser Rodrick I knew that likely means that Blackfish is out for this season. They will probably introduce him in the next season and just say that he lives at Riverrun and never was at the Eyrie.

Watching that mummer's farce in the throne room got me all pissed off again at Joffrey and Cersei.

Is next week the finale or are there 2 more left?

2 hours left.

Mummers Farce  Trying saying that to someone who isn't familiar with it - see what kind of look you get! Such a great expression and we need to raise awareness!!

i think some of the stuff that happened in the climax is out of order. but it was really well done. and tyrion's tysha story wasn't told that way. but it was very effective and bronn is the man. i like the way they've handled all that happened in this episode. felt very cinematic.

What an episode, these books can't get here fast enough. I totally didn't see the beheading happening, Sansa is a naïve little twit, isn't she?

Tyrion couldn't even get into battle and Jaime's army was smashed. Good shit all around.

The Imp is my favorite character in the whole series.

I love this shit.

bout time something happened on this show.

is there really only one more episode left? This season feels like its all been one big set up for what is going to happen now that Stark is headless. Kind of an average first season from the perspective of someone who hasn't read the books.

It's followed the book for the most part.

Next week's finale will close the first book with season 2 covering A Clash of Kings.
