If you want to hear vintage animated Andy Furman, tune in his Sunday night national Fox Sports Radio show on WSAI-AM (1360) and SiriusXM satellite Channel 169.
The former WLW-AM "SportsTalk" host is his bombastic self from 6-10 p.m. Sundays during his show with former NFL lineman Lincoln Kennedy.
The Fox folks love him so much that, after a year working weekends, Furman will get a two-week tryout soon for a possible weekday show.
"He's so much fun to listen to. I love the guy," said Don Martin, a Los Angeles-based Fox Sports Radio vice president and general manager. "Andy's opinionated, yes, but he's also a good storyteller and a good listener."
At 61, Furman is a rising Fox Sports Radio star. He first filled in last May for morning host Stephen A. Smith. That led to a weekend show last July, and stints filling in on some weekday shows. He has been paired with Seth Farnham, Kennedy and briefly with former Reds executive Jim Bowden in April.

Furman and Kennedy will sub for Pat O'Brien's "Loose Cannons" 3-7 p.m. show on Memorial Day. Then Furman will co-host a daily 3-7 p.m. alternative to "Loose Cannons" June 20-July 1 with Chicago sportscaster Mike North. The Furman-North show could be offered to Fox affiliates east of the Mississippi River instead of O'Brien's show, Martin said.

Although Furman hosts 7-9 a.m. weekdays on low-rated WQRT-AM (1160), and works some for Jake Sweeney Automotive, his biggest paycheck comes from Fox, and he'd like to work more.
Ironically, Furman does the Fox show from Clear Channel's Kenwood studios, where he worked for WLW-AM until 2006, when he was fired without cause.
He's so good listeners think he's in the same room with Kennedy, the Raiders' former All-Pro who sits in a Phoenix studio, and their Los Angeles producer.
"Andy knows how to give air time to the other people, because he's been doing it for so long. They go back and forth. They're very entertaining," Martin said.

Looking at the title I figured Fox abandoned all pretense of fair and balanced and hired Mark Furman.

That's the part of the headline that made me say "Whaaa?" as well.

I ran out of characters & couldn't fit "sports" in the title.

North & Furman...right wing sports radio!

I wonder if North will have a "ObiWan Kinobi-Skywalker" relationship with him?

Shark has lost some of his bite. I've scooped him a few times recently. Maybe I should start writing like him.

Try it and see what happens to your posting hand.

Hard to post with a bloody stump.

Having had the misfortune of hearing some of Furman's awful old shows on Cincinnati radio, I have to say this is a good move by North. He's chosen a partner that can only make him sound comparatively funny, dynamic, and perhaps even intelligent.

The talk about Fox Sports Radio made me think about Jim Daniels. He used to come on overnights when the Score farmed out its late-night content. I always found him entertaining.
Mark Patrick wasn't too bad, also.
