The Cubs are 1 of 9 teams out of major league baseball's debt compliance rules.

This team is a mess on and off the field.

Not his fault, just ended up as he thought it would. Others seem to agree, JimmyP, Dr Ken, My accountant who is a Sox fan,

It would be in Jerry best interest to approve a group that he felt would run the team poorly, but had enough cash to make sure they didnt go under.

Would you agree Mr C?

Time to make a new tinfoil hat, Bigfan. This one seems to be a little tight.

Is Jerry's goal to make the White Sox more profitable or to simply "defeat" the Cubs?

Cuz I imagine the White Sox attendance and Cubs attendance track each other fairly closely. Just as the Wolves attendance likely increased as the Blackhawks went from 2nd worst attendance in the league to 2nd best attendance in the NHL.

The more popular baseball or hockey or anything is at a given time in a given place, the better all businesses involved in that industry do.

If you're one of 2 restaurants on a block, the way to improve your restaurant's business isn't necessarily to have the other restaurant go under, but to have a 3rd restaurant open nearby.

Well there's one thing the Cubs have in common with Manchester United. Too bad ManU still win the league while being run by financial scumbags like the Glazers.

Actually, Wolves attendance was great in year 1 and exceeded projections by close to 3 times! Ya know why? NHL Strike and over years Wolves attendance rose when Hawks attendance fell. Wolves even outdrew the Hawks on a nice Sunday matinee game, first time ever an IHL (At the time) outdrew an NHL team int he same town. Had my guy on ESPN to talk about it.

Do CPA guy and Dr Ken post all the time about Jerry, and how they "just happen to tune in" to the Sox game on TV or radio to hear this and that?

Just asking?

Weren't the Blackhawks pretty decent back when the Wolves started out in '94-95? Blackhawks made it all the way to the WCF that season.

Anyhow, the Wolves "founder" Don Levin see the Wolves success as paralleling the Blackhawks fortunes, from 2009:

Quote:
Ever since the Wolves came into the Chicago sports world in 1994, he has been insisting what's good for the Hawks is good for the Wolves, and vice versa.

Now he has numbers to support that theory.

"Our attendance is up 20 percent over last March, and I think it all has to do with the Blackhawks getting more people interested in hockey," Levin said. "The better they do, the better it is for us. The more they can sell out, the better it is for us."

Wonder if the Wolves will remain affiliated with the Atlanta-now-Winnipeg franchise

It was a strike year for the NHL the year the Wolves started.

I have the Score on my radio, I turn it on in the morning. When I come home the radio is on and many times it's Sox games,

I don't understand your position. Is anyone attacking Jerry for this or the chatter in the other thread about what the old man Ricketts says? Reinsdorf is a shrewd business man. I get the feeling you are defending a negative perception of Jerry, when in these cases, no one thinks negatively of him.

I get the tweak Cub fan BigFan thing you two have going. It just doesn't fit here. 2 cents

The Wolves/Hawks correlation isn't the same as Cubs/Sox. I'd be surprised if Cubs/Sox attendance is correlated independently of their respective records.

Minor league games are attractive due to price and convenience. But, I don't think Cubs fans would go to Sox games due to "baseball fever". They'd wait to spend the money on another Cubs game.

The dining establishment or Hawks/Wolves examples are just incorrect.

I am 100% sure, Jerry R would have ZERO issue if the Cubs folded. Not saying they are folding, but I am sure Jerry would have no problem being the only team in town.

Nope, can't. Winnipeg still owns the old Manitoba Moose, which they just shipped off to St. John's. The Moose were Vancouver's affiliate, but are no longer.

UH OH

dont assume theyre a mess...the article implies theres a lot of gray area as far as how a team's debt is defined

this could just be Ricketts fudging things so as to appear "in debt" so he can get money from from the city of Chicago...fuck Ricketts

the Cubs are just fine...u dont go from cash cow to a mess in less than 1 year

You must be a meatball for making such a statement.
