As mentioned in another thread only one Cub starter has a .SLG % higher then .450. That is Soriano at .525 (pretty good). Pena & Aram have been terrible in the extra basehit department. The Cubs right now are sorely lacking power. Also, most of the guys with a good batting average can't steal a base. They have some guys with good OBP but nobody is providing the big hit to clear the basepaths. Great pitching can keep you in a game, but great hitting means you have a chance in just about every game.

They are devoid of everything constituting a winning franchise from the ownership to the shit house.

Why are so many women so gaga over Darwin Barney?

the cubs have enough power to win...problem is, they are hurt

Byrd and Soriano are out, Ramirez just came back...relax...power has been the Cubs strength the last few years...their problem has been doing the little things

His tounge extends 8 inches out of his mouth and he can rotate it sideways. Cindy Sandberg can confirm this.

Byrd is a power hitter?
Soriano is the king of the bases empty home run and Ramirez has been off the juice too long to produce big time numbers.

The Cubs have bigger problems then hitting home runs. They can't even get simple base hits with runners in scoring position.

that was my point, and I got laughed at

Ramirez is fine...he started wayyy worse last year and still had a typical slugging year...he is fine...Byrd is not a slugger but he is a source of production...RBI's, etc...again, he is out...Soriano is out...Soto is a proven 20 HR guy...Pena sucks but has power...we are fine power-wise...we have power at most of the power positions...the main problem is the little things...clutch hitting, starting pitching, and then on the days where those go right, the bullpen fails

what is the old adage? u build ur team up the middle first...well guess what, we are doing that (Soto, Castro, Barney are homegrown), yet we still suck...that points to four things: bad fundamentals, chemistry, and pitching...and of course as I said: Injuries

Sorry, your sarcasm does not compute. Was it the last statement I made? I don't have a problem with it.

I was giving you credit. The Cubs team now has sluggers and they were the World Series favorites.

ok,but it's a tough mix. Way too many KO's as a team. I wouldn't be surprised if the Cubs move one "slugger".
