This post is full of fail. Kind of like when I bought this 12" and found out it was the edited version, tho at least I got the instrumental....

Outkast - Crumblin Erb

That beat right there is one where you can listen to it a thousand times and its still as good as the 1st time

Aquemini is the last perfect hip hop album to come out imo

I dunno about that... I'm pretty sure Devin the Dude's "Just Tryin'ta Live" came out after Aquemini. It's perfect music to bump in your Lacville '79

edit: btw I think he's out here circa mid-may... I've never seen the guy live, so I'm going to have to make a pilgrimage...

ATLiens & Aquemini were my soudtrack to Kenwood Academy.

Many of my peers probably had Juvenile or The 504 Boys as theirs...

Wasn't to big on the whole no limit, master P, bling bling bullshit. It was a difficult time for Hip-Hop, IMO.

But if God produces a song, I think it sounds like a Pete Rock

Very difficult time. I was constantly outnumbered by guys who thought Master P was "killin it" on a track. Everyone was just so enamored by terrible music. There ws definately some gems during that time, but they weren't always easy to find...

From their second album (and best, imo) ATLiens. Produced by Organized Noize

Outkast - Two Dope Boyz (In a Cadillac)

Released in late 2009/early 2010. Produced by Just Blaze. Many here will recognize it as the opening to Jason Goff's show. One of my favorite tracks evah...

Jay Electronica - Exhibit C

Take this as an olive branch from your sandlot league week 1 opponent, you should check out the show if you can make it down to the abbey pub. Rubberoom is headlining, along with The Opus taking 2nd billing... The Opus made those beats for that album... I was fortunate enough to catch the 2x12" instrumental version of the architechnology LP so I've got all these beats on wax... it's a pity my record player died.

Also on the bill is some dude from the Eurolythimics and another old local rap friend of mine, the venerable Robust... in fact, that motherfucker owes me a beat and is facebook bigtiming me when i ask about it. I mean he hits me up like "i need money... i gotta move... wanna buy some beats?" and i'm there in under an hour hitting him off with like $150 for beats and shirts and records. I NEED MY THIRD BEAT DUDE. I REMEMBER WHEN YOU USED TO SHOW ME YOUR EXPOS HATS FOR APPROVAL! WIGGA PLEASE!

I haven't been to the Abbey since I got kicked out for smoking weed at an autechre show in 08, suffice to say this time I won't be blazing one hitters out of defiance when they tell me I can't go outside to smoke.

Oh and also, the Meta Mo on my friend's floor experience ended with Meta threatening to kill him on sight and a real good friend of his not talking to him for like ~7 years because he sided with meta trying to blow up his own rap career. Oh the good ol days of Milwaukee/North/Damen before they got rid of all the homeless people on the street and yuppified the fuck out of it.

I debated on whether or not I should resurrect this concept. I'm gonna go with it again for now. Let's see how it goes.

Aasim was signed to Bad Boy records in 2005 and after releasing the very underrated album "The Money Pit", Diddy proceeded to do nothing with him. Damn shame too, as he'll probably never receive acclaim despite being arguably one of the top 10 independent MCs out right now. This song is off his 2007 Mixtape, "The Departed". The song is entitled "Go". You owe it to yourselves to check out his catalog if you love Hip Hop.

Aasim - "Go"

Another selection from Detroit rapper Black Milk's 2010 album "Album of the Year". This track is called "Round of Applause." Check out this and the whole album if you can.

I'm taking it old school today. Let's go back to 1994 with some of the original backpackers, before backpacking became "stylish". Buckshot Shorty, 5ft, and DJ Evil D were known as Black Moon and were about as hip hop as it got. This is the remix from their debut album "Enta Da Stage". The track is called "I Got U Opin." And listen for the nice Barry White sample on the track. Props to hip hop - all day, every day.

Today's track is from Hi-Tek's 2008 Mixtape "The Boondocks", and it features Hi-Tek, Talib Kweli, and the best female MC in the biz right now, Jean Grae (I was honored when someone compared my flow to hers). The track is called "New York Shit", and you better believe Grae and Kweli ripped it.
