I predict he gets a lot more than 50 in his career.

Don't extrapolate during his hot streaks. They guy goes cold for several weeks drops his average below .250 and shows no power.

If Carlos Quentin hits 50 homers this season, he won't be here to do it. The White Sox will trade CQ before the MLB Trade Deadline in July.

So sure, SHARK? I know the Sox haven't played very well for the most part this year, but they are only 6 games out. They could easily be just a couple of games out or maybe even leading the division by a game or so at that point.

If the Sox fall 10 games back again, yeah I expect them to trade some guys like Quentin. If they are still close, KW will be a buyer and not a seller.

Frank, the problems with this White Sox team are that they haven't won more than 4 in a row all season, their offense hasn't been too good manufacturing and scoring runs all that much, they've been terrible on the bases, and they tend to waste quality starting pitching. Even if they fatten up again vs. their NL counterparts in the next couple of weeks, they might still be looking up at a Tigers' team that appears ready to become King of the A.L. Central jungle before too much longer.

Because they can't get a 24 pack of Pepsi Max for Adam Dunn, a 30 pack of Miller High Life for Jake Peavy & Alex Rios, the White Sox will have to cut salary somewhere if they can't get within 3-4 games of first place, the Sox can get a lot in return for CQ and that'll accelerate the return of Dayan Viciedo to the big league roster. Once Viciedo is here, he's here to stay and he'll take over right field duties right away.

SHARK, I know about their problems. You still didn't answer my point though. If the Sox are just a few games back by the trade deadline, Quentin isn't going anywhere-- not for beverages or for other players.

Frank, the White Sox were 3 games back in the division many years ago, yet still waved the "White Flag". You better enjoy CQ now, because he'll be as good as gone if the White Sox are not "ALL IN" around the July 31st deadline.

Different GM, different attitude, different team, different world.

Quentin isn't going anywhere if the team is still in it.

You're way off on this one, SHARK.

Ignore the Indians. The Sox are 4.5 games back. Carlos Quentin will not be traded.

The way the Sox have played this year they cannot afford to ignore anyone.

No way, Quentin is traded. This team is obviously going to be in contention (they already are). I think Dunn comes out of his slump pretty soon. When that happens they have one of the best 3-4-5's in the American League.

I'm aware of that. He already had a 2 week slump this year where he didn't hit much. But now we're in the warm weather. He's almost on pace for 50 right now.

He's also gonna get 50 doubles. 50 doubles is more in the bag than the 50 HRs. He'll be in some rare company if he has a 50 HR/ 50 doubles season. Only a handful of players have ever done that.

I'd love 50 doubles out of him as long as the guys behind him are picking him up.

Quentin's double pace is unbelievable for him. It just jumps out at you. In his 2008, his near MVP season, he had a career high with only 26 doubles in 480 at bats. This season he already has 20 doubles in 222 at bats. It's not like he's getting more hits either. He's only batting .270 this year where he hit .288 in 2008.

That is pretty unbelievable.

Just hitting balls in the gaps a lot I guess.

Quentin is only arbitration eligible after this season. Not a free agent until after next season. So he's gotta do it back to back years before we have to pay up or lose him. Sox could use this to sign him at a better deal if Quentin doesn't want to risk being bad again next year. Or we'll at least have him as trade bait through next year's trading deadline.

Baseball-reference.com is great. It tells you everything you need to know.

Thats sad....they might trade CQ if the team falls over 10 games back before the trade deadline. It's the fact that Kenny signed Dunn, claimed Rios off waivers and traded for Peavy that has resulted in so much bad paper being tied up on players that are not producing and couldn't possibly be traded. Then they look at guys like Quentin who is producing quite well and for a reasonable sum at that...and consider moving him. What a mess....

CQ will not hit 50, he is due for some kind of an injury. Even if he doesn't get hurt, 45 hrs max.
