I'm a big tennis guy, so I'm slightly biased. I've watched four minutes of the middle, with the entire thing recorded. If you love tennis, or you think tennis is for the burritos, watch this special.

HBO Sports steps up again.

George Offman beat me 6-1, 6-4, 7-5, and tried to sleep with my mom. He had a chance, but he said horrible things about Johnny Kerr's family.

I remember Borg's TV career on "30 Something".

I'm really pissed Charlie Steiner missed his calling as the third Steiner Brother. After every Frankensteiner, Charlie could have laughed uncontrollably. Until they went up against Doom. Ron Simmons don't play with that shit.

If anyone is watching this based on my suggestion, you have no idea how difficult some of these shots are. Sick talent.

And then Charlie could've been in six man matches with Teddy Long and Doom.

I bet Charlie could deliver a helluva Steiner Line.

I would rather watch Barry Horowitz's Greatest Victories.

Charlie Steiner w/Mike Tirico v Teddy Long w/Mystery Manager THIGH WEDGE ON A POLE MATCH

Anyone else a tennis person? I've lost my way the last five or so years, but it's a magnificent sport.

I tried for a scholarship, which didn't happen. I spent the Summer I turned 21 coaching roughly 50 students. Ages 4-67. Some of the greatest months I've ever experienced.

It felt a little short, but maybe that's just cause I would have liked to hear more about the dynamics of some of their famous matches. The stuff about their relationship and their declines was fine and I know had to be covered in something like this, but even the coverage of the 81 Wimbledon felt rushed (which is even more unfortunate since I still maintain it was clearly superior to the 08 Nadal-Federer final in terms of level of play and drama).

the biggest reason why it's superior, zeph, is that in 81 tennnis was a much more popular world wide sport, and it involved an american so this country was more vested in the interest.

nadal/federer was an outstanding match though.

I also think the fact that it featured two guys playing actual grass court tennis rather than the bizarre baseline game played on the slower grass of today made it a lot more special to me. I mean I even prefer Ivanisevic-Rafter to Federer-Nadal. Also Wimbledon 80 probably was the highest level both guys ever played at against each other, whereas Federer and Nadal both looked better in their matches at Rome 2006 and Australia 2009 IMO.

Well I guess that explains who molested Capriati.

Disagree totally ZM. I didn't watch this for a rehashing of past matches. I thought it was a quality character study.
For those tennis lovers -- who have The Tennis Channel -- I suggest watching the Signature Series episode about Vitus Gerulaitis. Borg and McEnroe have a very-active part in the episode.

If you lived through the 70s, its damned easy to be burned out on tennis.

That was like a nonstop soap opera for 6+ years.

I recently learned that the NBA players of the 70s couldn't compete against today's physical specimens, so is the same true for tennis? I'm guessing McEnroe and Borg would probably be decent club players if they were around today.

Are you the tennis guy that Darko insulted and Favre Fan mocked loudly when telling the rest of us the story while we were at Lamplighters for the All Star Game last year?

I don't think so? But I have no idea what you're talking about.

Capriatti had 24 inch pythons at age 16. She could probably take me Bad Rogue.

Please tell the story Boyd. Although I'm 99% sure it wasn't about me, I'm intrigued.
