If you are going to move up and take a RB and pay him a first round RB bonus why not just resign Jones or let him play in the last year of his contract. Why trade Jones if that's what your planning on doing? Fact is Angelo wouldn't trade Jones if he's just gonna trade two 2nd rounders for another running back.

Plus Ted Phillips will choke Angelo if he has to pay a big bonus to another RB two years after Benson. That shouldn't be a factor but it is.

To put it simple. If the Bears draft a RB in the 1st or 2nd round that would mean they have soured on Benson.

If that were the case they wouldn't have let Jones go.

Jones will be in his 8th year and if the Bears would have let the contract expire they would not have received anything for him. I see why they dealt him now and as somebody else mentioned I could do without the RB drama this year.

I don't see them paying for a free agent so I believe they will try to draft a RB. I think Benson could be a very good running back but his headcaseyness and injuries could be a problem.

Aren't they all like that ?
