Tough losses for the Illini and Arkansas but they should both be happy with their seasons. They both were better than expected and should have pretty good classes coming in for next season.

There are a few elimination games today involving #1 seeds.

Kent St vs Texas (1)
UConn vs Clemson (1)
Arizona vs Texas A&M (1)

Fullerton, Rice, Georgia Tech, UCLA and TCU are #1's who have already been knocked out.

What a great game that Virginia/UC Irvine game was. I feel for the Anteaters, but they couldn't close the door.

The final 2 teams punched their tickets for Omaha. Virginia and Texas A&M.

The College World Series is set: Vanderbilt, Florida, South Carolina, Virginia, North Carolina, Texas, Texas A&M and California.

3 SEC teams, 2 ACC teams, 2 Big 12 teams and 1 Pac-10 team.

Should be a great World Series. Go Vandy!

Saturday's games:

Vanderbilt vs North Carolina 1:00pm ESPN

Florida vs Texas 6:00pm ESPN

Sunday's games:

California vs Virginia 1:00pm ESPN

Texas A&M vs South Carolina 6:00pm ESPN2

That Florida/Texas game will be fantastic. The longball Gators against the smallball Longhorns. The top bracket might have the 4 best teams in the tournament but you can't forget about South Carolina in the lower bracket. They lost a lot of pitching from their World Series team last year and lost their best hitter (Jackie Bradley Jr) to injury this year but they just keep on winning. I'm still going with Vandy.

Vandy won 7-3 over North Carolina. Sonny Gray wasn't great but the bullpen came in and slammed the door. Vandy moves to the winners bracket and will play the winner of Florida vs Texas which should be a fantastic game.

Just adding baseball to it's list of domination.

Cal has been eliminated from the College World Series.

They're down to the final 4. Florida, Vanderbilt, South Carolina and Virginia. Florida and South Carolina are in the drivers seat.

Not only are 3 teams from the SEC they are from the same division (east) of the SEC.

The Championship Series starts tonight. Florida vs South Carolina 7:00pm ESPN

Florida will be starting ace Hudson Randall (11-3 2.24) while South Carolina will be starting freshman Forrest Koumas (6-1 3.07). Florida is the more talented team and has it's pitching rotation set up but South Carolina is experienced and knows how to win big games. It's going to be a great series.

Florida in 3.

Pitchers duel after the first couple innings. Randall is an absolute stud. He's going to fun to watch for a long long time.
