I was flipping thru the channels tonight and I stumbled upon VH1 and they had a behind the music with Ice Cube(I really didn't know VH1 was still on the air, and I was positive if they were they didn't air and BTM shows anymore). I was trying to think of a bigger sellout to his craft than Ice Cube. He went from this hardcore gangster rapper to a guy that has been in almost every kid friendly movie you could find.

I wouldn't call Ice Cube a sellout. How long can you present yourself with the "gansta rap" image before you look more ridiculous than you already did?
The way I see it he grew out of that phase as he got older and became a husband and father. His musical subject matter went from gangsta to politically charged socially conscious. I haven't heard his music since the late 90s or early 2000s so not sure what his sounds been since.

He's obviously a successful entertainer as his movies have done pretty good.

This dude went from growing up poor in South Central to being a superstar entertainer. The whole goal in life is to better yourself and get the hell outta the hood. I think anyone who has such an opportunity would do the same

I've got no problem with musicians who want to make wheelbarrows full of cash. Anyone in a band (full time) that says they don't want to make cash is lying.

Agreed. The whole purpose of being in a band, in my opinion, is to express yourself to as many listeners as possible. The fact that some "hard-core" fan who has a band's first demo is pissed because someone's mom likes the newer stuff seems like sour grapes...

Pretty sure you're referring to my earlier post. I was never even a fan of the Plain White T's. I was hanging out with a chick years ago who was seeing them at the Wheaton Grand Theater with the hopes of possibly being able to make out with her (that didn't happen...). I just thought it was funny that a band that was considered part of that genre is now played on 101.9 and middle aged women listen to it, that's all. If that ain't seeling out, then what is?
