My folks had to put her down today. When I was back home this past week I could see she was really reaching the end. Every time she walk she hobbled and just looked like she was in pain all the time. She couldn't even make a noise when she meowed anymore or jump up on anything--except on the last day I was there, she jumped up on my couch so I could pet her, and she laid down next to me for a little while.

Good-bye, Sophie...I'll miss ya, ya lil scamp. :(

16 years is a good long life for a cat. RIP Sophie.

she did have a good life, and a very simple one. never got hurt or had a disease or any kind of scare...she got lost one time but that was because she found her way into a pipe entrance in our front lawn and got stuck there for a day or two.

my other cat, chang, had a much rougher life but he was a wonderful family cat. lived 15 years and was put down due to kidney failure back in 2005. he went through 2 moves, had to be declawed, and had a rabies scare where we had to cage him for a month. he was ok though.

Oh, Zack, I am so sorry about Sophie. :(

You'll meet up again at the rainbow bridge.... http://www.petloss.com/rainbowbridge.htm

I'm SURE that my cats (spread over a lifetime) Poster Nutbag, Sam, Fred, Stormy, CC, Pookie, Tigger, Pokey & Tabby (along with my beagle, Sally, who loved all her cats!) all met up together with Sophie and made fun of the Cowgirls & Jerry Jones!

(((hugs to you)))

Hope she is able to meet up with my guys Howard and Edgar. Neither one of them made it past seven. They lived fast, died young and left pretty corpses.
Howard disappeared and Edgar got hit by a car. So, perhaps, scratch the pretty corpse part.

I'm so sorry about your dog. :(
What was your dog's name?

I'm sure my Sally the beagle sniffed it's butt shortly after meeting your dog.

I think about my little guy bouncing around the garage so excited to see you guys and have someone drop something for him to pick up and it makes me chuckle. Animals are a funny thing aren't they. Rip Sophie.

That's one cute cat,WZ. I'm sorry for your loss & the same goes out to Terry's Peeps. I have a Jack Russel & a Welsh Corgi, too. They follow me everywhere. I love my dogs. They are more than pets in my house.

For Zach & Terry's Peeps

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I'm glad you saw that Chus...I, too, am so far Harpua-less.
