Dempster- People like him he has been solid lately.

Kerry Wood - This one is interesting. Very little money, he isn't going anywhere long term, but maybe he goes for 1 month for some prospects, then comes home?

Marmol - I am aware save guys dont bring big bounties usually. A big part of that is that a good team usually already has a good save guy. He only goes if a great deal is made.

Pena- Anyone want him?

Soriano- Someone in the AL need a DH? 50% off

Fukudome- Actually been pretty impressive this year.

Z- Nobody is taking him.

He's been pretty good this year and comes cheap. If you take into account production and contract status, he probably is one of the best values we have.


Although I understand wanting to get rid of anything from this era and start completely fresh.

The guy has maybe another 3-4 years left as a solid bullpen guy, but he wants to be in chicago, thus will sign a series of $1M deals. I don't care if he is here or not, but love the fact they could Rent the guy basically for a good prospect, then he comes back each year and we can do it again next year.

What does Pena have to do to draw high draft pick compensation if he leaves in free agency?

I was wondering the same thing with Aram since he has been blowing up lately. It depends on their ranking amongst free agents of the same position. They both have to command at least class b compensation.

Lance Berkman is fucking things up quite nicely right now though for Pena to be a type a free agent. Pujols is there as well and so is Ortiz. The 3rd base group sucks though so Aram should be a type A....so the cubs can draft another fucking Hayden Simpson.

Pena currently qualifies as a type B free agent which means if the Cubs offer him arbitration and he refuses they get a compensation pick between the first and second rounds.

Not sure if the Cubs would risk offering arbitration because with Boras it's really hard to figure what he would do.

I think a club must offer arbitration to get compensation and that is not a given with A Ram.

Unless the Cubs are going to go after Fielder, offering Pena arbitration might not be out of the question. It doesnt seem as if anyone from the minors is ready to take on the position. Unless they want to try handing it over to Colvin, arbitration may well be offered to Pena.

I see Ramirez and Pena drawing interest, along with Wood and possibly Baker.

Ridling at 1b is hitting very well, but he was never supposed to be a prospect. I think he is over .300 with 15 and 50 in AA. He is a righty though...he is also not someone elses throw away like Lahair (who is still raking). Ridling isn't that old. He is where he should be for his age.
