As a Cub fan, do you ever just contemplate how fucked this organization is?

Yes -and they are completely fucked unless they bring in new leadership. That is why I hope they lose 100+ games and become a total embarrassment. That is the only way I see Ricketts doing anything bold.

But where else would you get the chance to shake hands with Ricketts? I'd like to give him a piece of my mind.

So who are the smiling fucks who shake "Riksy's" hand? I think these are professional fans. The same people you see at halftime SuperBowl shows screaming for The BlackEyed Peas or some other bad/old/tired rock act. If he offered his hand to me,I would shake it to draw him in,then I would rip him a new asshole.

If I met him in the stands at a game I would shake his hand but ask him some real questions about this organization and refute any corporate bullshit he gave me back. I would probably say I appreciate the sentiment of the changes you have tried to make around the park but nothing matters if this team does not win. While he conjurs up a bullshit response I would hit him with the WHY is Hendry still here and since you are a fan....even a fan can see that Qaude is no major league manager.

It would be hilarious to get a You Tube video of a fan ripping Ricketts a new asshole all with totally legit Q's and plenty of facts.

On the Talkin Baseball show, here's Quade:

"get to the ballpark and try to figure out how to win a game."

Really. You are trying to figure out how to win a game. Wow. Ain't that nice.

Hey Ricketts, can we get a guy that's already figured that out??

With this team embarrassing the city on national TV today, can we please admit the mistake and end this clown's tenure like today?

The only way Quade is going is if Hendry is gone and Rikketts dont have the balls for it.

Hey that's the first compelling argument I have heard for keeping Hendry around.

OOH! Quade! You're so angry!
Yet more proof he has zero control over his team.

I can completely understand why Rothchild fled this mess

although it looked last year like he got along with Quade, he obviously saw a lack of major-league readiness in Quade for him to just bolt...he's too good

good players and coaches wanna be on good organizations...not work for bumbling, low self-esteem, neurotic bullies like Hendry

No, Whistler Lite, you fucking retard, the kind of organizational changes the Cubs need are in no way subject to the vicissitudes of day-to-day attendance. It's as completely and utterly out of our control as a thunderstorm. Not filling the bleachers doesn't magically make the Chicago Cubs learn how to draft and develop talent for the first time in seventy-some years. Not filling the bleachers doesn't hire competent management or give them an idea who competent management is. Not filling the bleachers doesn't do anything but give an already poor team even less money. Do White Sox fans really think that the 2005 team came to be because people didn't buy tickets to years of 84-win teams and this somehow inspired the organization to greatness? Fuck no. It didn't work this way. It never works this way. Success and failure is bigger than attendance. It sends no message, it scares no one into acting competently. It's all meaningless.

Bullshit. Baseball is a results driven business for 29 teams. The Cubs are the only team in baseball that can run out a roster full of crap and still draw 3M sheep. Winning isn't a priority and it goes back to the Tribune days. Spend enough money for a team to go .500, sellout everyday and lead the league in making money. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

wrong again you stupid fuck... if that dump was a ghost town like it should be then hendry and the rest of these retards get fired and a real competent g.m is put into place to make decisions..now just because you like to go and sing go cubs go after a meaningless win and you are too much of a retard to realize you are part of the problem not the solution dummy!

Winning is not a priority for every team.

And they havent always drawn 3 M. They drew nothing in the early 80's and the 20 years before that.

That cant be the answer or they would have been awesome following all those terrible attendance years of the 80's

I think attendance does matter but its not as simple as Dont go, team gets fixed so you'll go

The Cubs have had one of the higest payrolls in baseball for the last 10 years right?

RPB is 100% correct. Fans in KC and Pittsburgh have done the same thing a lot of people want Cubs fans to do, don't go to games. Fans haven't gone to Royals or Pirates games in 20 years, how many winning seasons have they had in that time?

I mean I get that we want to feel like we, the average ticket-buying fans, can vote with our wallets to effect change, but we really can't. Trust me, I care about this team's fortunes enough that if I really believed in a clear causal relationship between "shit, no one is coming to the games" and "we now need to build a fundamentally sound baseball organization from the ground up so that we can effectively and inexpensively develop talent without paying well over market value in free agency and we know exactly how to do it," I would advocate it. I have no trust in the people in charge knowing what needs to be done or knowing who should be hired to do what needs to be done. They're never going to be the '70s Orioles like we'd all dream of. All I can do is hope they manage to win more than they lose.

They will never be good for a long period of time unless they learn to build a farm system and produce their own talent. They blow at scouting, drafting ,and player development. Most of the time they do not know a player can play when he is in their own system(C.Magehee comes to mind at first thought). Barney won the job but they did not think he was any good.Castro should be at second or center not SS. On and on. Hendry had his chance with unlimited payroll and failed. Clown Kenney should have never had a baseball job. It is gonna be years to fix this pile of shit if done correctly.I have no faith they can.

And tell 312player, if you will, how decreased attendance somehow teaches them.

CH, I see what you're saying but there is certainly some validity to what 312player is saying.

Decreased attendance is not going to teach them to scout and spend their money wisely.

At the same time, if the place is packed daily, they dont have the motivation to even try and get better at these things.

Well then, that's just it. If we're conceding off the bat that the Cubs will never build a bona fide top-to-bottom baseball operation, then it simply becomes a matter of the organization having the income to sign free agents and make trades or not having the income to sign free agents and make trades. Teams that make game-changing personnel decisions are making those decisions at levels far, far above those affected by the turnstiles. The Red Sox weren't scared straight by fan boycotts into being bought by extremely wealthy businessmen who hired Theo Epstein. Weak attendance in Atlanta didn't get Maddux, Glavine, and Smoltz to wind up on the same team. All low attendance has scared the Pirates into doing is sucking.

The only way to fiscally frighten the Cubs into running a Twins-like operation, and even this is a longshot, would be for them to lose lots of enormous sponsorships and luxury box leases at once, which would make them so cash-strapped that they'd have no choice but to look like the Expos or Marlins. But once again, this and this alone guarantees nothing with respect to getting the right pieces in place. What if you're financially shocked out of complacency but you still can't hire Larry Beinfest, or a reasonable facsimile thereof? Then what? We're back to where we started about conceding that the Cubs can never build it from the ground up.

all the comparisons of the royals and pirates are somewhat valid but not entirely and here is why..the cubs have a much larger fan base and are in a major market and spend much more money, albeit spent very poorly....also both those organizations are actually better run than the cubs and have a brighter future... here is what happens if the cubs drew 1 million at the gate this season...hendry and crane kenney and quade are all fired..the team improves tremendously with those 3 moves
