I didnt mean to blame him for the mess. I do think other owners may have made some sweeping changes (Fire hendry, Hire Team President etc) and that would have been the way to go.
I get what you are saying. Its gotta be pretty goddam frustrating for Cubs fans. Yes he is responsible for the direction-- or lack thereof-- with the organization now, but in regards to your quote above there, what you said has little or nothing to do with the players on the field. A new GM and a team president might have helped things somewhat, but you would still be giving boatloads of money to guys with no trade clauses, and the new GM would still have very little payroll to work with. Thats what I mean when I said that you can't really get too pissed at Ricketts just yet. Now if the '11-'12 offseason goes by and there are little or no sweeping changes, then everybody has a right to get pissed.
I mean, he knows the team is bad. When the last time the Cubs offered beer/hotdog specials in the bleachers? Or the last time they had multiple games where you could get a ticket and a hotdog meal for a pretty reasonable price? Maybe they would do that like 2 games out of the year as a promotion, but this is every weekday or something. So in that sense, at least he is trying. He is a businessman and he has to make money to be successful. He needs asses in the seats to try and turn this thing around so at least he is making an effort in that regard.
