In which case the Winehouse record is more rock than some of those emo bands playing guitars processed through several levels of electronics.

I listed exactly 0 emo bands.

But you do consider emo bands "rock", correct? My issue is not whether you think the Winehouse album is one of the ten best in the last fifteen years. I certainly don't. But it's definitely a rock record. In the same way the Shirelles and the Shangri-Las made rock records.

I think I've reached that age where alot of new good stuff is flyin' right by me, unnoticed. Doesn't help much that most rock bands have to be searched for and are not in the mainstream anymore. That being said, I'll see what I can come up with.

I like the latest Metallica submission, Death Magnetic. They finally got back to their roots.

Also,

Weezer- Green Album
Nada Surf- High/Low
Foo Fighters- The Colour and the Shape
Foo Fighters- Echoes Silence Patience Grace
Green Day- American Idiot
Soundgarden- Down on the Upside (barely makes cut off date)
Liz Phair- Liz Phair
Nerherder- How to Meet Girls
Incubus- Morning View

I know I'm missing alot....brain not functioning fully today.

Imu is right, an extra 2 years on to this criteria would make the lists significantly better

I think Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain would make it then.

Yeah I agree. Besides, "favorite", "rock album", and "15 years" is wide open enough criteria for there to be a ton of stuff to pick from.

Don't bash on emo music or I'll have to listen to Eric complain at home :(.
