If you're not up to speed on all company financials, you shouldn't really rely on job security. I say that as someone who has have two tech companies go belly up from under him.
Enjoying, and needing, are two different things. I don't think you have a roommate becuase you find him irresistable and you need to live with him to fully enjoy the experience of life. My personal experience was that I got a roommate when I needed one, and it was inconvenient because I had to change my life to bone my women in peace.
You're living paycheck to paycheck dude. I doubt seriously that you can take a 6 month sabbatical of unpaid leave. Unless you're banking over a couple years pay, or at minimum a year's pay, you're kinda living check to check.

You're not paying More to have a roommate. Your logic is funny, but incorrect. If the base rent was $1100, and you pay say $800 of that, you're not paying "more to have a roommate". But good giggles nevertheless.
Most people when they say "paycheck to paycheck" mean that the loss of one or two paychecks would set them back. If you can survive for about 6 months you can claim to not live "paycheck to paycheck". True, it's a matter of semantics but the point, if you will, was that if you're not sitting on a year's income in cash, you need your weekly paycheck. Or bi-weekly, to avoid another semantic argument.
One thing I will say about this thread... it was indeed revealed more of you again. Fascinating how your thought process works, in my opinion.

I think it's pretty much because IMU brags a lot about his money and I think that some folks might be calling it out.
He's publically offered his income, and good deal of his assets and liabilites. So, the conversation, in my opinion (calmly stated) is perfectly acceptable in terms of appropriateness.

FWIW, I haven't "raced" my car since... my 20's??
I'm too old for that shit. My step brother Bobby though, that mfer builds supras. The one he just finished is pushing 750 HP at the flywheel. Pretty impressive. Its like being in a shuttle launch when he drops it.
