Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh called out the Chicago Bears on Tuesday over the aborted draft-day trade involving the two teams last April.

"I'm not buying a 'mistake' thing," Harbaugh told "The Waddle & Silvy Show" on WMVP-AM 1000. "They knew what they were doing."

Kansas City Chiefs The Bears had told the Ravens they would trade their 29th overall pick and fourth-rounder (127th overall) for the 26th pick in an effort to ensure they landed offensive lineman Gabe Carimi ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs, who had the 27th pick.

The deal fell through at the last minute when the Bears failed to contact the NFL to consummate the deal. The Ravens were livid and demanded compensation, but Bears general manager Jerry Angelo said only that "a mistake was made" and no rules were broken.

"They agreed to (trade) a pick," Harbaugh said. "They got their guy (Carimi) on the phone. They recognized he wasn't getting calls from the team behind them (the Chiefs). And then they basically stalled for over a minute, telling us that they had called the trade in. So that was just not honest.

"They hadn't called the trade in. They said it was a mistake; those guys have been doing this for a long time, c'mon. You communicate back and forth and someone is responsible for calling the trade in, there's no way not to get that done."

Although each team ultimately got its man -- the Chiefs, after moving ahead of the Ravens when the clock ran out on the botched deal, took Pitt receiver Jonathan Baldwin at No. 26, the Ravens got Colorado cornerback Jimmy Smith at No. 27 and the Bears got Carimi at No. 29 -- Harbaugh won't forget.

"That's not OK. It's not ethical, it's not right," he said. "I personally agree with our owner (Steve Bisciotti) that they should have been held accountable for it.

"We basically took them at their word, and obviously that was a mistake

I hate the Ravens. Everyone involved with the organization can kiss my ass like there's no tomorrow.

I don't blame them. The Bears look bad here...and Angelo looks like his "normal" confused...stuttering self. That said, fuck the Ravens!

Should not S&W get credit for that interview in their own section? It was really good, having 2 Harbaughs on!

The truth often lies somewhere in between .... but even at that theoretical midpoint, the Bears still look like dopes in this specific incident.

That said, it wasn't like the Ravens were getting the number 3 pick or something that really could change an organization .... at this point it's just coming off worse than "No, I strenuously object, your honor".

DT has it right. Truth may be on your side. At some point you have to let someone else take up your indignation or you sound whiny. It's also not really within his jurisdiction. Let the front office complain about it.

I guess Harbaugh wasnt with the ravens when they did the same thing the Bears did a few years ago and Newsome said there was nothing wrong with it.

Weren't you ever taught that 2 wrongs don't make a right? Angelo is a fuck up & there isn't any aspect of his job that he is good at. Not player evaluation, drafting, understanding the nuances of NFL rules & formalities, or communication. Other than that, he's a great GM!

BIBGO! Scorehead missed the point. When the ravens did the same their answer was 'hey, we are all big boys here, you should have made the call'.
