Mike and Mike have been pretty good. Actually some funny stuff, dumb contests (Pirate or Pirate) Named guys and you had to say if he was a Pitt Pirate or a Dead Pirate. First guy calls in, Greenie gives a name and the guy says "Pirate" and very un ESPN like Golic rips the guys "Yeah, no kidding, which one genius?"

Much better than the "M&H" new segment of "Send in your memo" Who thought of this????

That Van Peezy hour is still tough to make it through.

Wow.......I don't think I could do it. Can't stand Greenberg. I'll take local over national every day.

I used to listen to it while North was doing morning's at WSCR. If I ever hear that "sheet of integrity" drop again, I may jump off a bridge. It always appeared to me that their arguments were contrived. The whole show felt fake, which is right on par with the entire ESPN empire. Add in the lack of local coverage, and the show is dead to me now.

I like them better than M&H. To nationally for me most of the time though, I just don't think my brain is ready for sports radio to have 10am

I watched ESPN from the beginning and I've seen it develop into a vehicle for promoting the major sports which it broadcasts. I'll take local.

Do yourself a favor and give this guy a chance. It's much better than Mike and Mike and if you can get over the fact that it's national it's significantly better than M&H.

I do too, but that's when I'll tune into Rome. Vanilla national radio is pretty dull to me.

I agree with this BUT I can't stomach Mike Golic so I stopped listening a year or so back. That guy epitomizes the former athlete who cannot understand or even relate to fans and always sides with current athletes on any issue semi-controversial.

I like Greenie and realize that he is neutered by ESPN. He could be great on a show that doesn't have a promotional agenda. Peoria Matt is right- the show along with Sportcenter is just a vehicle to drive their broadcasts. NSD is spot-on with Rome. Good stuff.

Back when I used to have a longer commute, I used to listen to Mike and Mike. Then one morning, I heard Dickie V yelling at me through my radio at 6:30 in the morning. I wanted to drive into oncoming traffic to make it stop. Instead, I changed the station. I haven't listened to the show since.

On a side note, I was put off by Greenie's gay crush on Chad Pennington, and the overt Jets love. It reminds me of Karl Ravich on Baseball Tonight.

M&H suck. So do M&M. If I want talk in the morning, I'll flip on the Score until I hear Mulligan's voice. Then I go back to music.

It must be bad for Corny and Yell-Again if Big Fan is going against them.

For you young sports radio listeners out there, Mike Greenburg used to be the morning host on the Score back in the day. I don't recall who he was teamed with though.

Mike Greenberg is a great example of it's better to be lucky than good. There are thousands of people that could have done his job. He just happened to be there.

You dont find him interesting at all?

I think even on that show with all its framing and pre determined content he comes up with some interesting takes on things.

I rack him all the time.

i do agree that their "disagreements" are contrived, and they're obvious. but sometimes they do have some interesting conversations.

greenberg just plays devil's advocate a lot and i don't think he believes in half the stuff he says, he just wants to get a rise out of golic.

and his "predictions sure to go wrong" pretty much always do.

but mostly i listen to citaldi or stern at this time in the morning.

I'm not saying he's bad. There are a lot of people who are interesting. However, he isn't remarkably better than the best few guys in most major radio markets and yet he's arguably the biggest sports radio host in the country. ESPN picked him out of the group and turned him into a star.

Saying that thousands of people could have done his job may have been a little over the top but I have never considered him to be that insightful given that Mike & Mike is virtually a scripted show. When you have the access that Greenberg has you should have some insightful things to say.

Not sure how WSCR is handling the NFL coverage, but ESPN has been immediate info all week.
