For that, some top tier prospects better be coming back. That said, no one would give up a top tier prospect for either so what would be the point

Hendry says the Cubs can contend next year and Quade says they are still in it this year so they logically will be buyers  .

I actually want them to go out and get Logan Morrison.

Going out and paying 95 percent of Soriano and Zambrano's remaining salaries and getting shit back would be stupid. Go pay some of Soriano's salary and get Figgens. I think he is still a good player and getting the hell out of Seattle would do him well. As far as Z goes I am keeping him unless there is a legit good trade. I would not just dump him.

Fire sale?!

The Cubs are one solid 19 game winning streak from being right back in the race!

Figgins is Pierre with less power. Pass. If they get good prospects back then thats fine I just can't see the Ricketts paying 95% of a players salary to play for another team. Too cheap-o.

Is this the thread where we talk about all the new players Hendry aquired for the upcoming 20 game win streak?

The Yankees have no interest in Big Z according to reports. They were about the only team I thought might be interested. That is good news thought because the nucleus for a championship is here already and he is part of it. Just ask Hendry and Quade.

If the SP looked like this next season: Garza,Dempster,Zambrano. I don't think that would be terrible. It's the fact that this team has at least 6 guys in their everyday line-up that are 6-8 place hitters.

And that they are the worst defensive team in the league. And their bullpen is a mess. And their manager needs a helmet while crossing the street.

There was once this Cashner guy. He went on the 60 day DL over 90 days ago. Are Hendry and the boys trying to pretend he doesn't exist anymore?

Hey, I heard on the radio broadcast last night that Angel Guzman had a great outing in high A ball some-the-fuck-where. He is on the fast track back to the majors.

I hate this fucking team and everyone associated with it.

Perfect timing. He will be considered the cannot miss bullpen savior going into spring training next year only to blow out his elbow again.

The Cubs are closing in on a deal with the Indians for Kosuke Fukudome; not finished yet, but nearing the 1-yard-line.

Sloth has a raging hard on at the thought of Dewitt playing everyday in the outfield.

Do you really object to trading Kosuke or is this just general pessimism about all things Cubs/Matt Spiegal related?

I wanted Fuk gone last year. I am just stating facts. While I will celebrate his departure I also know that Quade will want to put Dewitt out there. I wanted to see Jackson get a shot, but he is struggling in AAA and I doubt he will be up before the expanded rosters.

Actually....Colvin is hitting much better (than he was) in AAA and should probably come back. I would advise Hendry to make Dewitt part of the trade so Sloth can't put him in the OF ahead of Reed, Campana or Colvin.

I was going to say toss Colvin there and give him 2+ months and then the organization will hopefully know what they have with him. I'm guessing it's not going to be anything worthwhile.

Do you really think 2 months is enough to figure out if a guy can be an everyday player?? He should have been starting out there from day 1. This has been a wasted year in so many was it's almost unbelievable.

Colvin has 470 major league at bats and has been fucking awful thru most of them.
Career Line = .221, .285, .430, .715
Oh! Isn't that magical! Career WAR -0.7.

I'm not looking forward to the Brett Jackson experience either. Sorry guys.

Agreed Darko. However, personally I would play him in RF for the rest of the season strictly based off his performance last year. Owe it to yourself to give him a look since it wouldn't really stunt anyone in the minor's progress.

Unless a solid prospect from the Indians comes back to play there.

Only hangup left in Fukudome deal appears to be minor perks in exchange for waiving no-trade clause. #cubs #indians #trades

Based on his performance last year he should be in Iowa.
254, .316, .500, .816 and 100k's in 394 AB's. Not quite impressive. I don't see him deserving starter time. Unless there really is NOTHING else out there. He's barely over even WAR in 2010, had consistant time. I guesss his best benefit is he's cheap, $440k, but if you want to win games/divisions/godforbidchampionships, colvin ain't your huckleberry.

It's impossible to judge a guy on less than 500 sporadic AB's. You have to give the guy a chance to get in a groove and play everyday. You have to let him know that if he has a couple 0'fers he's still going to be in the lineup and not benched or sent to the minors. They didn't give him a chance to succeed and this would have been the perfect year to do that because they obviously weren't going to be a competetive team.

Hendry will probably dig in his heels on the translator fees and botch the whole deal.

He played half the year last year consistantly and was consistantly not good.
You're not going to learn anything in the remaining 50 games that you couldn't learn in the 100 or so he played consistantly in 2010.

Agreed on all counts. Hopefully they haven't destroyed the guy because he did show power last year. How many runs did Fuk drive in this year? 13 in 345 AB's. Wow. For 13.5M. Talk about a bust! Unreal.
