Went 8-5 (including 1-1 NIT)yesterday but a great day with big plays of Louisville, BC, TAM, WV and BYU (+2.5) all coming in.

Today:

Villanova -1 against Kentucky

I don't love it as much since this two point swing from early in the week. Look to see it Nardi is playing and play it lightly.

Creighton +1.5 against Nevada

As described earlier. Creighton is a tough defensive team with occasional firepower on O. If Funk is on, Creighton wins this one big. I have a feeling Tolliver will abuse Fazekas.

Oregon -8 against Miami (ohio)

GT-UNLV UNDER 143
This is a pure fade play. I'm going to wait until right before tip and see if I can get a tick more, but it's already at this number. This line has moved up 6 points and I'm going to fade the steam. Sure, both teams will play fast, but we have a west coast team playing at 9:30 am on their body clocks. And the game is at the UC, where unders are often golden in college hoops.

Hmm. My dad's in Vegas and I called in my above bets last night. I wonder why the G. Tech total is moving. I think he bet it at Paris and I guess I should be happy that I got it at 141 for my over.

Beardown, I suspect there are tens of thousands of guys in Vegas that are flush with cash after yesterday. The sports books are all jammed and they're looking for action. The UNLV-GT game had a short line, so it's no surprise that there is significant money chasing the total on a game like that. Most bettors play overs much more than they play unders. I'm seeing a few overs getting hit hard today. I may come back and middle my zona total bet before gametime.

Well Coast looks like your Georgia Tech under is a lock. Sucks for me. They won't hit that total in 3 OT's.

You're right Coast. Most bettors like favorites. And they went 13-3 yesterday.

Ouch. Not a good start for me. 1-4 in the early games. Here is what I have for the 2nd wave.

Winthrup +4

Tennesee over 165 (Bruce Perl told me it was golden.)

Actually I'm not joking Doctor. I posted here a couple of days ago that Bruce Perl told people to take the over in his game on the Jim Rome radio show. So yes it is on tape.

I saw your earlier posting too Beardown. I believe you.

I was just wondering if every conversation he has is still recorded as it was back with Deon Thomas in his old Iowa days. But, I don't hold grudges. Bastard.

Mr. Pearl's advice is looking pretty strong right now. I'm watching that and they are running and gunning.

Holy shit. My Winthrup and Tenn. over are gonna come in nice and easy it looks like.

That puts me at 3-4 today for those scoring at home.

I just cracked my first beer of the day at 2:30 if you want to score that at home.

Any thoughts on the 3rd wave guys? I'm gonna call my old man at 3:15.

Well I'm off to the bar. It's only a half mile from my place so I'm walking there with my buzz on.

I'm 4-3 with this Oregon -8 game pending.

Tonights plays.

Illinois +3

Illinois under 110

Southern -8

Southern over 110

Good night and good luck. Maybe I'll talk to you at midnight. I'm sure you can't wait. (who am I crapping)

2-1 earlier. On the Zona-Due over tonight, but it's way up to 141 now. Wouldn't play it there. Also playing the Horns -7.

Texas -7, -120
Kevin Durant makes you see double...and makes you forget there was ever a band named Duran Duran.

6-4 in the first round.

Georgetown -8
BC has lost by doubles to the best opponents it has faced and I think this will be another one. Dudley drives the BC bus, but Jeff Green is a tremendous defender with the size to match up with Dudley. Don't think BC will have much of an answer for Hibbert inside. The war in the paint will likely beget fouls. In that regard, BC's thin bench may be felt.

Vandy-Wazu over 127.5
Vandy will speed this game up and fire at will despite Wazu's propensity to slow things down.

Pitt-VCU over 132.5
I've gone over with Pitt a few times and here is a good opportunity for another one. VCU has a few scorers, likes to play fast and will trap Pitt and leave open looks. Unlike Duke the other night, the Pitt shooters might just hit them.

A horrible day for me yesterday as big plays on Creighton, Oregon and Villanova blew up. It was going so well early and I had some afternoon events to attend so I went big in the later afternoon to my detriment. I didn't give it all back from Thursday but it was close enough to make it a bad evening.

Louisville +2.5 against Texas AM

The game is in Lexington. While the Cardinals blew out Stanford on Thursday, it was a noticeably heavy Louisville crowd. This will be a home game for the lower seeded team. The Cardinals have been the hottest team in the NCAA over the second half of the season. They went from .500 NIT wannabees to a strong NCAA play. This one should be a fun game with a lot of offense. I think Louisville has the advantage on the defensive side.

Georgetown -8 against BC

Georgetown is the media darlings these days. However, they are also undeniably good. They have plenty of size but are also athletic. I have hated the way BC has played down the stretch. It seems like Dudley is in constant foul trouble and the team is underachieving (having two players kicked off the team will do that. I think the Hoyas win this won by at least 15.

UCLA -7 against Indiana

Indiana played a very nice game on Thursday, which is a rarity for them on the road. UCLA is more talented and athletic than the Hoosiers. I expect UCLA to win the battle both inside and outside. Similar to Georgetown-BC this one will not be close.

Carolina -10 against Michigan State

I think MSU win against Marquette was as much MU being bad as MSU being good. This is a home game for the Tar Heels. MSU will be without one of their inside players. Carolina does not always come to play. I think they will take this matchup very seriously and cover.

Sorry Chus. Hate to go the other way. And I see good dolphin likes Louisville too.

Louisville +3 vs. AM
I love AM, ACLIV, and Billy G. I have them going to the final four in my brackets. But how do you go against Pitino, playing in your home state, playing the best they have all season, and getting points?

Smaller plays on the first game:
Xavier +8, -120
Xavier-OSU under 63-1/2, first half

Expect defensive intensity and a lot of passion for this "rivalry", particularly early. Both teams have gotten off slowly more than a few times. Think X can battle to the wire.

I was 18-12 in the first round. Had a really strong finish as I swept my night plays.

Here are my round two plays. I'll denote my confidence with stars.

Xavier +8 **

UCLA -7 ****

Butler +5.5 ***

Louisville +2.5 **

Vanderbelt +2.5 **

With two seconds left, the Georgetown guy misses two FTs and with 1.4 seconds left, the AM guy makes two FTs. One make from the GT guy and one miss from the AM guy would have been perfect. Instead, it's 4-1-1.
