This will be the end as we know it.

These guys think they are negotiating how much MORE than can get. Whether they realize it or not, they are going to get less and actually talking about MORE as a negotiating technique is going to cause the owners to not respond at all and open the doors to scab players, which I can promise you players will cross the picket lines in mass once one guy does it.

NBA players I think are the most nuts. They have huge contracts, guaranteed and have been catered to in their lives probably longer than any other athletes. These guys start getting freebies at age 10! Do you think they 100% of these guys are going to care about "The Union" when the owners open the doors and say come on back and play under These new rules if you want.

Kobe, as an example, might make $22 Mill this year and he is on the last year (2) of his career, you dont think he will want to play almost no matter what? Then guys who never got drafted, made it on their own, just finally got in line for a big pay day, maybe like a Taj, made $1M last year, sure thats nice, but I see a 5 year, $30 ill deal headed his way this year at a minimum? think he isnt going to say "fuck this I am playing"

The agents are going to force this one down their throats and the CBA will be no more.

You make a lot of logical sense BF. So much of a union's strength is based on unity while NBA players might be the most selfish players in sports. We know they are not very intelligent either.

I'm going to greatly enjoy watching this unfold.

BF the players have been talking about giving money back. They've already offered to give back $100M a year over 10 years. The owners are asking for a lot more as well as a hard cap and rewriting current contracts. As always they'll get most of what they want. Very little will change because you'll still have owners giving out bad contracts just like we are seeing in the NFL this year. Also the owners locked the players out so they can't bring in scab players. They can only do that if the players strike.

Hov stop making sense, that's not allowed when discussing the NBA here.

Im not sure how this will play out. The owners have fucked up badly, and are trying to blame the players for their fuckups. The owners are the reason the league isn't profitable right now, the players are not to blame for that. The talent pool is as deep as it's been in 20 years and we just had one of the more memorable postseasons in recent memory. On the other hand, alot of what bigfan says is true. The players are not going to be united on this, and we already know that moreso than any other sport NBA players are bad with money and need that paycheck. But despite that, Billy hunter did a great job last CBA, supposedy David Stern doesn't want to "lose" again.
