I posted a link to the post where I detailed that he was blaming the WR's for running the wrong routes on an indeterminate number of his interceptions. That's an excuse.

Ok great, one example. Knowing the Bears receivers they probably were bad routes, but that is a whole different discussion. If Cutler is as FF said, all about making excuses for his bad play, then why has he been completely silent about stuff since the playoff loss? Why did he not go on an excuse making rampage?

I would argue that a real or fake knee injury is better than any excuse he could make especially when it's framed in a way where no one can say when it actually happened and what happened that made it impossible for him to play the rest of the game.

I could care less about Jay Cutler's personality...The guy beats to his own drum. Is it wrong?

I'm more in line with FF and BR on this one. After pretty much every shitty game he has he says he needs to look at the tape. No you don't. If you're throwing 5 picks in a game that means you sucked. It's really that simple. I know I went through this last year but the Bears would have probably made the playoffs in his first year if he didn't single handedly lost 4 or 5 games because of his poor play. After those games his press conferences made you want to Duerson yourself. I don't care if David Duke is the QB as long as he is playing well. When he's not those annoying things start to get to you. Jay hasn't been consistently good enough to overlook these things IMO. At some point you run out of excuses for him.

Championship NFC, what do I see?
Cutler's Personality.
I know he's pouty, I know he preens
I know he can't run no damn screens
It's Cutler's Personality
Like Grumpy Smurf
Childish he seems,
It's Cutlers Personality
Cutlers' Personality!
Cutlers' Personality!

NFC Championship on the line
Could play but instead will cry
You won't have to to take a knee
Only faking can set you free!

I saw him pouting, on the bench
because the first half was full of stench
It's Jay Cutlers personality
He must be faking, could play if he like,
because he would otherwise ride the bike,
OH! It's Jay Cutlers personality
Like Tony Larussa, or Ozzie!
It's the Jay Cutler personality
Jay Cutler Personality
Jay Cutler Personality!

Championship on the line
When he knee got weak they said he lied
You won't have to to take a knee
Only faking can set you free!

It doesn't get him the benefit of the doubt that other really good QB's would get. As someone else said Derrick Rose didn't get torched for his play in the playoffs because he's a likeable guy and no one questions how much he wants to win. Players will say nice things about their teammates if you ask them. However when they go out of their way to say those things when no one is asking that tells you a lot about that player. No one does that with Cutler other than Olsen.

My God, this is Jay's third season with the Bears and everyone has already labeled him a loser and a horrible person.
Facts:
Has been through two Offensive Coordinators with two totally different schemes
Has average receivers at best who in their own part, caused interceptions by turtling (Johnny Knox) or not at least fought for underthrown balls (Johnny Knox).
Mediocre OL + Average WR's + New Scheme + living up to Meatball standards = bad season.

This bullshit with him faking a knee injury is just fucking stupid. I would be bummed as hell if I went out like that last year and I wouldn't be a fucking cheerleader either. I am one of the most hyper-critical (and retarded) people on this board but I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I think Jay will play great this year.

I really like Aaron Rodgers, but his stupid ass "championship belt" move is bush-league and made him look stupid on MNF when the Bears beat them.

Not bitter at all. Green Bay was the better team and again, I like Aaron Rodgers. I just thought that little move was lame and made him look like a jag off.
Can't be bitter about being beaten by a better team.

My god. Who are you? Did you even watch any Bears games last year?
I can't tell you how many times someone had to tell their #1 receiver where to line up. and who exactly was their #2? Did you see the guy getting drilled into the turf constantly?
Dude, the problems with Cutler was what he was working with not his smugness.

You can make an argument the 2nd best WR in Chicago is a pitcher for the Cubs and people blame Cutler.

3/4s of the people on this board would be an improvement at WR for the Bears.

Knox can be a #2 and Hester and Bennett are pretty good #3's. The Bears were missing that #1 guy. Hopefully Williams can be it.

Pundits, players, and every other pissant prairie punk couldn't wait to figuratively shit in Cutler's face by literally calling him a pussy and to instead be 'a man' about it .... some so far as saying that while he may have been badly hurt, he didn't look the part. Are you fucking hidding me?

Give me a break .... so it's be manly, play hurt, blah blah blah .... and also mind your body language - apparently the latter being the most manly part about the manly game of football.

Dumb. As. Dogshit.

Yeah poop doesn't really subsitute well for shit in this case. Who gives a a crap about Cutler's bad attitude would have made more sense if you were censoring yourself. But the OP is nuttier than squirrel poop so who the hell knows.

Virtually every person says "I don't care if he's a jerk as long as he wins". Anyone who says that means that they do care. It's human nature. You'd rather have someone you like succeed. There is a reason that people still liked Rex Grossman after he continued to prove he wasn't an NFL starting QB. Heck, the creator of this thread still defends him like he's a good QB who just didn't kiss up to the media(which he did just as much as anyone).

Let me put it another way.

Let's say we have two QB's with the exact same abilities. QB #1 is an unlikeable jerk. QB #2 is a fun loving, interesting, and welcoming guy. They play exactly the same way. Are you telling me that you wouldn't be happier rooting for QB #2 or that you don't care either way? You are different than me if you don't prefer when your favorite athletes seem like nice guys.

Orton should play for the Cubs or Sox since he only performs in September and October. Good for baseball bad for football.

We only have the media that loved Kyle Orton to believe Jay Cutler is a jerk. They cover up for their friends and lie about the ones they don't like. They flat out lied about the NFC title game saying he wasn't helping Hanie using that one clip from Fox. Sorry he was listening to the coaches on his headset and if you saw it a minute later he was telling Hanie what they were saying.

The media partied with orton and miss him terribly.

Hey cubbiegirl. I hate to do this, and please no one else answer this, but did Orton or Cutler have a higher QB rating last year?

I find this whole dislike of Cutler by some meatball fans an example of everything wrong with Chicago sports.

People loved Orton because he was grindy. Blew any chance of the Bears making the playoffs in his last year here but he was grindy. But he blew Denvers chances a year later too.

And only complete and total idiots think he quit in the NFC title game. He would have hurt his team by playing and not able to plant his foot.

And the most embarassing thing about Chicago is people actually think Hanie should start this season.

Does anyone else but Rick wish we still had Orton?

You can have Orton. I realize you love him as a Purdue grad.

Also what was Denver's record?

Orton is a serviceable QB. He will never be the reason you make the playoffs.

We love our September and October QBs and hate our playoff game winning QBs.
I am a Northwestern girl. You don't see me saying Baesaneaz should have started do you!
