I have one country playlist, and yes it looks way, way, way better than anything with that group of suckage attached to it.

Fwiw, keep Alan Jackson and Willie and delete the rest.

So basically what you're telling me, is that you were a country music fan, but haven't listened to anything newer than at the very latest, the year 2000.

Well hey, that's cool I guess, that's how I am with my rock and roll.

I just started listening to country music four years ago. I instantly liked mine and Reasons stuff more than the new stuff

I've heard a ton of new country. Most of it I don't like. Jamey Johnson is alright

Let me also add that Charley Pride was a flame-throwing pitching prospect until he hurt his arm. Some things happen for a reason, I guess. He was one of my Dad's favorites.

Not down with the Zac Brown band?

I really like a few things from ZBB, loved "America the Beautiful" live, but I don't like alot of their pop-country stuff.

Taylor Swift = Over the last 5 years, only Lady Gaga has grossed more revenue than Taylor.

How can one really use gross revenue to determine quality of music? In both cases, their music is beloved by squeeling tweens that also love Glee and Twilight. They are the easiest market to manipulate because they all struve to be nothing but lemmings to follow with the crowd.

As for your other arguments, "Queen of Country Music" is like winning the "Miss Trailer Park" pagent.

Lady Antebellum is annoying and another artist that has benefited from a quality marketing campaign...I think I saw them doing a commercial for Target a while back. That's how you draw in the bored Stepford Wife audience.

Tim McGraw apparently has some sort of drawing power, but meh.

KS I like the progress you've made in the last 12 hours but take note how a very well known hater of country music has better thoughts on country music than you were displaying last night, pre-intervention.

Ok, see, Outlaw Country at least has some sort of artistic merit. The artists involved were bucking the vanilla Nashville system. It didn't change the system, it just gave us some tunes that I've often referred to as "Redneck Punk Music".

Wake me up when it's Johnny Cash time.

I've never called myself an expert in any of those things. Because of douchebags like you I've gone out of my way to say im not an expert.

I don't know much about country music really. I am far from an expert. But I would expect anyone to either laugh at you or roll their eyes when you say Swift, Antebellum, or Underwood's country songs are as country as their predecessors.

That would likely be pretty cool. I'd still call you a db in person though if you put words in my mouth. I don't like that.

I don't get high anymore, and I don't drink nearly what I used to. As Hank Jr would say...

And the hangovers hurt more than they used to
And cornbread and iced tea took the place of pills and 90 proof
And it seems like none of us do things quite like we used to do

Never. But it precludes me from accepting much of it. However, you will be happy to know that I have Mr. Cash queued up and ready to go somewhere in the next 10 days! So at least there's that.

How do you feel about the Highwaymen boydster?

That will work.

265 posts into this thread and she's still talentless, homely and utterly mundane.

There's a pretty good article in the current Rolling Stone about Glen Campbell. Check it out.

Quote:
"There's a Tear in My Beer" is a country song written and recorded by Hank Williams, and later re-recorded by his son in 1988.

Original version
The original version was written and recorded by Hank Williams during one of his Nashville sessions in 1950-51, but he decided against releasing it. It was not until many years later, in 1989, that the original song would get its first official release.

1988 version
Hank Williams, Jr.'s version is a duet with his father created using electronic merging technology. As the song had been previously recorded with Hank Williams playing the guitar as the sole instrument, his son and his band simply "filled in the blanks" and recorded additional vocals. The music video for the song combined television footage that had existed of Hank Williams performing, onto which electronic merging technology impressed the recordings of Hank Jr., which then made it appear as if he were actually playing with his father. The video was both a critical and commercial success, and was named Video Of The Year by both the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country music. Hank Williams, Sr. & Jr., would go on to "share" a Grammy award win in 1990 for Best Country Vocal Collaboration.

Waylon is taking the night off. In his place are good friends Hank Williams, and Hank Williams Jr.

Here's the 1988 version from Hank Jr., featuring his father, with There's A Tear In My Beer

Songs about Bocephus are better than songs by Bocephus.

Check out "Fathers and Sins" by the Magnolias and "Monkey With A Gun" by the Yayhoos.
