Shouldn't he at least be suspended after walking out before the game was over? The disciplinary file on this fucker is an inch thick and yet the Cubs will likely be limited to giving him a slap on the wrist. It is hard to fathom that by this point they don't have grounds to void his contract.

That fucking idiot Hendry probably gave him a No-Void contract.

Yeah. They can get him for insubordination and suspend him for the rest of the year without pay. That's what they will do. Like I said, MLBPA will fight the "without pay" or at least some of it. But they'll have to take him back next year. He's got 2 years left on his deal?

It's gotta be so nice to be him. Act an ass, have your contract and have no real harsh consequences.

I still would like to see the Cubs give Sean Marshall and Matt Murton an opportunity. I would also like to see the Sox take on Willis contract in order to get Cabrera.

His brain. We start at age two when........

He's not right, and hasn't been. I admit when I'm wrong, and I was absolutely for signing him to the contract. However, without a solid franchise, even solid players get lost. This dude was off from day one. Cut you losses.

The sad thing is the retirement talk is bullshit. He might actually believe it. Nobody's going to let him go through with it. The Cubs will either have to eat all of this now, or hope for a baseball front office miracle.

There is nothing wrong with him mentally. He's just a jackass. Why can't it be that simple? It's what he is. He behaves like an ass cuz he can. No other reason. He's paid. He's set for life. So why not be a jerk? That's how he looks at it.

Yes.

I also think he wants to be suspended for the rest of the year. Early vacation for him. So he forced the issue by leaving. He knew as soon as he left the clubhouse he was done for the year. It's what he wanted.

fuck the trainer for spilling the beans...Zambrano mumbled something and this guy had to spill the beans so he can make headline news...fuck him....if it aint an official statement by Z, then just tuck his comment in ur pocket and dont say a word, and let Z unfold his retirement

u dont need to goto Quade and the other players and Bully Hendry to look like a hero

typical Bully Hendry...always trying to play it off like someone else is the problem...fuck that fat fuck

Hendry just wants another excuse to suspend him or bully him out of town

he could care less about "respecting his wishes"...look at him trying to come off as the noble one...fuck him

First off,I'm in shock at THIS move. Zambrano really flipped this time. I wonder if this becomes an issue for the court system. The Cubs can sue him for "job abandonment" or something like that. I just can't beleive there is no "out" in a MLB contract after this kind of behavior. Didn't Sosa walk out in the last game of the season and Hendry crucified him for that? Up until now,I thought Zambrano wasn't that bad this year as far as outbursts go. The one he had, most Cub fans agreed with him. Or did I already forget a few? I can't keep track. One shitty season fades into the next but GO CUBS!

Same. Until it's from Z's mouth in an official capacity, just a lot of grandstanding and posturing going on. Fuck Hendry for the statement that they'll honor his wishes based on a frustrated comment to a trainer. He's a piece of shit bully

Don't get me wrong, nothing would make me happier than Z retiring and saving us money, but this is much ado about nothing contractually at least. He'll get suspended

I think Terry Boers was leading the charge on that idiocy. I'm pretty sure he's a Cubs fan. But Cub fans certainly don't have the market cornered on stupidity. It seemed to go over someone's head, but in the other thread I made it a point to use analogous situations where many Sox fans had bad thoughts.

Yes,you can but when a 16 mil a year contract is involved, you can't expect to get paid for the rest of this year and next. job abandonment usually is when somebody leaves work without informing their manager but still expects to show up at a later time to start another shift.

from ehow:
Proper Notification

If an employee is unable to report to work due to illness or circumstances outside of her control, she must notify the appropriate person with a phone call. This individual is often an immediate supervisor, general manager or human resources manager. During training, the employer must let the employee know who her point person is.

Terminating an Employee

If any employee does not call the employer or report for work for two or three consecutive days, the employer generally considers this job abandonment and terminates employment. The employer can call the employee, send a letter describing the company's absenteeism policy or simply remove the employee from the payroll.

This isn't exactly White Castle or Target and there is this thing called the MLBPA.
