You vehemently defended this organization at every opportunity this season and agreed with the perceived decision to keep Hendry and Quade for next season. I'll ask the question again:

Stop being so mean.... it's obvious that Mattycakes has attended the Laurence Holmes / Zach Zaidman school of beat reporting over the last few years. Laurence has taught you that if you kiss enough ass you'll be able to talk on-air about the texts you share with numerous Bears players, and ZZ has taught you that if you tow the company line you might get a nice cushy immortal job with the team Itself.
You can hate on the guy for not being an ideal "reporter", but he just got married for fuck's sake! He's about to start a family! He needs as much job security as he can possibly get going forward, so trying to establish himself as a friendly media outlet in the Cubs lockerroom is definitely the way to go. If the players like him and maybe even go out for drinks with him combined with his constant willingness to tow the company line, maybe someday he gets hired by Cubs.com to write for them, and then he can travel with them on roadtrips and become a real beat reporter someday!
I know there's snark in what I write, but like, I'm coming from a real place here. The guy has a prospective family to think about, and the best way to ensure the safety of that family sure isn't going into the lockerroom and ruffling feathers and asking hard questions that nobody wants to answer. It's not just journalism, it IS a business after all.
