After talking about the trilogy the other day with WZ, I got the urge to go back and watch it again. I was watching the first one last night and I realized that Doc Brown was truly insane.

When they are testing the time machine at the beginning in the parking lot he says to Marty- "When this thing hits 88 you should see some serious shit." They then proceed to stand right in the path of the vehicle as it makes the first jump to the future. When it does, Doc is overjoyed and starts yelling that "My calculations were correct!!" At that point I realized that he never tried it out first, he just did the calculations and came up with 88 mph as the speed which would trigger the time machine.

The problem with this is that they were standing right in the path of the DeLorean! What if he was wrong and it was 90 mph, both he and Marty would have been killed instantly, and for what?!? An oncoming shot of the speeding car? Not to mention that the vehicle was nuclear, what if the car exploded, thousands in Hill Valley may have been killed and if not at least he, Marty and Einstein would have perished.

Overall, very unsafe testing procedures.

The Libyans would have been pissed if they got there and Doc Brown was already dead.

Yeah, add dealing with terrorists to his list of credentials. I am starting to question if he is a real Doctor.

Weight has nothing to do with it.

He and his ancestors specifically say how much they hate manure.

Yet they always seem to find themselves bathing in it.

Coincidence? Hardly.

I hate shit too and I've managed to not submerge myself in it at every turn. The "hate" thing is just a family lie to hide a dark secret passed down from generation to generation...

They didnt start the shit thing until encountering Marty. Perhaps Marty is the one obsessed with shit and gets off from others being covered in it.

I contend that the family shit obsession has always been there. It was only made public through Marty and his zany antics. In order to hide the fact that they were most likely jizzing in their pants at the moment of the manure fest, "I hate manure" is the family line that was first coined by Buford and adopted by his booboo lovin' clan going forward...

Doc tells Marty to meet him at the mall at 1:15 AM and Marty's totally cool with that. Later on he wakes Marty at around 12:30 AM to make sure he'll be at the mall in time. He also reminds him to stop by his house and grab some condoms...sorry, the video camera.

So is the 2nd movie considered totally worthless in the trilogy?

The first one was the best, and the 3rd one was great, could argue just as good as the first, but the second one when it comes on, I just can't even get into it. I turn it off half way.

I am missing much? Is this the general consensus that the 2nd movie blows from back to the future fans?

And how fragile was Biff's psyche that one single, cheap shot punch, changed his entire philosophy on George, from peon to being his life-long, physical superior?

normally people i know that are fans of the trilogy think the 3rd one is the worst. the second one is just a real wild one. a lot of time traveling; almost too much. it's kind of overstuffed.

the 3rd one is pretty much a straight up comedy western. it's OK but i hated the love story. it did have some good laughs. 2 didn't have enough, although michael j. fox playing his entire future family was pretty funny.
