Has this guy finally figured it out? He actually looks pretty decent. The breaking pitch seems to be setting up the 97 MPH heat quite well. A surprising positive. Will it last??

6 Holds in August. Somewhere hendry is smiling like the moron he is! This was another piss poor area Hendry fucked up for years. He would pay top dollar $3 to $5 mill for middle relief crap. Dave Veres to John Grabow, all goes back to "Good Guy Jimmy" paying the vets that are his buddies.

Not saying these guys are worthless but they are a dime a dozen. Washed up ex starters, Hendry paid big money too for years.

THE SHARK is a $3M Middle Relief guy! Great! Maybe I pay my setup guy, or a guy who has a record of short inning work that is impeccable but not that crap like Hendry would find and pay!

I read somewhere that they are thinking about turning him back into a starter next year. Not sure if I agree with that. They're obviously thin in starting pitching but he's finally realizing some success. Why would they want to mess with it?

I'm also trying to figure out his contract situation. He has team options in '12 and '13 for $3.25M but he's not a free agent until '16. What happens if they don't pick up his option? Do they then go to arbitration?

I think this is another sign that the player development staff is fucking terrible. Someone else got a hold of him this year and fixed a lot of things.

I was the biggest hater of this guy for the last 2 years but he has done quite well for the majority of this season (post 3 man rotation with him and Russell getting a ton of work the should not have gotten). All he needs to do now is lose the gay pirate look.

Hopefully arbitration as he sure as hell ain't worth 3.25M. Fucking Hendry. Unreal with these team options for huge amounts.

Anyway, hopefully they hire a top notch GM and manager/pitching coach to make the right decision moving forward because the guy is showing promise now for sure.

Maybe Kerry Wood has helped him gain confidence given they have the same kind of stuff.

I hated him too but now he looks like a real MLB pitcher. He has some easy heat too but it is the command of the breaking pitch that has really allowed him to get a foothold this season.

Anyone else entertaining any thoughts of giving him a shot as a closer?

if he's good as a middle-reliever, then keep him as a middle-reliever

I always hate how people never wanna develop middle relievers....if a guy does good, he's either turned into a setupman, closer, or starter...and then teams go out to sign middle-relievers...for what?

u now have a middle-reliever that looks like he is ok...keep him!...dont try to change his role to this or that, thats how u fuck guys up!
