I second that. Last night's 5-4 White Sox loss in Anaheim might have been the death knell for these guys, not to mention the Tigers coming from behind to beat the fading Rays in St. Petersburg. These Sox have been so maddening, they've had ONLY 1 streak of more than 4 wins all season and that was 5 a few weeks ago. ALL IN? Doesn't look like it to me.

Maybe if they had a major league second baseman.

RP Bryan, Gordon Beckham had an RBI double and scored one of the White Sox 4 runs last night. Nip that crap in the bud right now!

However, I'm now starting to think that Beckham's now one of the tough decisions that lie ahead in the offseason. After 2 disappointing seasons at the plate, do the Sox NOW decide to move Beckham, along with injury-prone RF Carlos Quentin and starting pitchers Gavin Floyd & Mark Buehrle after this "ALL IN" season mercifully ends? Do they also shift Brent Morel from third base to second base and test the free agent waters to find a more productive third or second baseman? All bets are off right now...

ARam would look mighty good on the South Side.

I'm getting awfully tired of the Beckham bashing, RFDC! Omar Vizquel's not much better. Besides, what the hell are these White Sox waiting for? Vizquel should be playing for a WORLD SERIES CONTENDER! These Sox are nowhere near winning this year's World Series!

Vizquel will still be around for a couple years. Why do they want to give away a future HOF?

There are three White Sox in the bottom 10 in all of MLB in OPS who are everyday players. Dunn, Rios and Beckham with Juan Pierre in waving distance.

I hope that Paulie's last great season isn't wasted this year. He's so fun to watch

Two words...Jim Thome. Why do you think the White Sox traded him a few years ago to the Dodgers? That team, not now of course, was a lot closer to a World Series title than the Sox...As for Omar Vizquel, he can help a similar team that's a lot closer to a title...As far as I know, Vizquel still doesn't have a WS ring in 22 years.

Don't get me started on Mark Teahen, Phil...He was bad at baseball before the White Sox traded his sorry ass!

I haven't thought about in depth but they almost certainly have to get rid of Buehrle. The pitching staff will still be good with Sale taking his place and Zack Stewart taking Sales. However, if you are ridding yourself of payroll, this is the absolute best time to get rid of Konerko. He's working on his second MVP caliber season in a row. He is under contract for another couple of years. He hasn't had serious injury problems in a while. I think they could get a real haul for him. Replace Konerko with Dunn at first and see what you have in Dayan.

On the flip side, for all the greatness of the last 2 years the team is likely under .500 during that span. If the did this they would shed 14 million on Buehrle, 12 on Konerko, 8 on Jackson, 5 on Teahan. That's almost 40 million in savings replaced with about 1 million.

If Dunn sucks the team will be immediately sunk, but as we have seen, this is true anyway.

So, my initial recommendation is BLOW THIS THING UP. Oh, and see if the Marlins will trade you Ozzie for Logan Morrison. Also a blow up would require getting rid of AJ, which I think is possible given that he has hit around .300 over the last 2 seasons with one freak injury preventing him from being the most durable catcher in the league. Put AJ (not Burnett) on the Yankees and he becomes a fan favorite.

I almost forgot, they also lose Pierre's 5 million. You could play .500 ball with a very good bullpen, a staff of Danks, Floyd, Sale, Peavy and Humber and a lineup that included a reinvigorated Dunn/Rios and

Quentin
Dunn
Rios
Viceado
Ramirez
Flowers
Beckham

and a right fielder/center fielder you get in a trade for Paulie. If Dunn/Rios work out you can win a division with that lineup. If not, again, you are sunk anyway.

The number is supposed to be retired...Luis Aparicio gave Omar Vizquel permission to sport that number. What was wrong with #17, now worn by Tyler Flowers?

I think they resign Buehrle and trade Floyd. I also think Stewart makes the rotation and Humber is the spot starter/long reliever.

It would be illogical to think he will have back to back years that statistically and practically speaking match the worst of any major leaguer in the history of the game.

I would love that battle for the #5 spot next year. Danks will be traded before Floyd if he cannot be signed long term this winter.

I love Buehrle. He is one of those guys I wish would be a White Sox for life. I think this season is a mirage due in part to the heavy rest of the six man rotation. It will drive his price up and out of the Sox market. I would think it would be a big home discount to sign him for 8 million, but even that might not be acceptable given payroll constraints.
