I am currently going through my house and sifting through what I am keeping,
what I am tossing out and what may be saleable before I move a majority of
my things into a storage unit. I know that Tube TV's have gone the way of
the dinosaur for most of us, I am sure some people still use or watch them.
Do I even try to sell this thing? It is 37" and weighs at least 140 lbs. Was a
nice TV but been collecting dust in my basement. I was going to put up a
flyer around work with some other things, assign a value to it and see how
it went with the caveat that I would likely be willing to take a best offer.
Only other option is taking it to Goodwill and giving it away for a small tax
break. Just thought I would see what you guys thought, maybe you have
been in a similar spot in the past.

Maybe try Craigslist? You might find somebody looking for a cheap TV for their basement or garage.

Or we could burn it at the tailgate.

You'd be better off just trying to get someone to take it for free, then you won't have to worry about lugging that thing to goodwill or some place else.

Same question goes for VHS tapes. I have over a hundred of a bunch of good movies but am
thinking of just tossing them. I still have a VHS so I could technically still watch them. Don't
see any demand for these anymore that I have seen.

Mr Reason or Joe Orr would probably take those VHS tapes from you.

you could get 20 or 30 bucks for it. more if it's HD.

I just sold a massive Sony Tube HDTV for 95 bucks. It weighed about 240 pounds but the picture was awesome.

But what if you need a strange man to pick you up and give you a ride to a Cubs game? Would craigslist be a good place to find such a thing?

DT, I wouldn't have wanted to sell it to you. They have a long history of boards going out on almost all of this model and it's around 3 to 400 to repair.

We have an electronics recycling collection over here that benefits a group with disabilities- they part things like tvs out for the value of the parts. I donated my old tube tv to them, as the tuner was failing.

When the school where my wife teaches switched to smart boards for the classroom, the tvs became obsolete- we sold them through a local resale shop for $20-25 apiece.

I gave my last two tube TV's to my divorced friend & my niece. The extra 25-30 bucks I would make from selling them online is not worth the hassle of having some strange dude in my house.

I'm sure Sini's brother would appreciate a donation.
