Another ACL Injury, and since Marve is still hurting, Caleb Terbush could be the starter Week 1.

It has to be nice for the Purdue fans, on the Big 10 network, to show Purdue wins over Wisconsin, Ohio State, and Michigan, 2 by Brees and 1 by Orton, those guys stayed pretty healthy throughout the years.

Now with Henry out for the year, Marve reportedly won't be back until Big 10 play starts, down to the 3rd string and possibly 4th string, and this after a season when so many diffrent Quarterbacks played last year.

Is Hope going to make it at Purdue? I know his recruiting has sucked.

As your new hated rivals I wish nothing but the worst.

Is Marve still as big of a douche as he was a few years ago at the U?

Rob Henry was my only reason for optimism on this Purdue team. Marve was bad last season before the injury, and he might not be ready until October (and who knows how he will look after). Sean Robinson was way out of his depth last season as a true freshman, and it would suck for him and the program to not be able to redshirt him. The Caleb Terbush era may very well coincide with the end of the Danny Hope era.

Yeah. This is bad. There really is no other way to spin it.

My biggest concern is that this team can win 4 games but Hope keeps his job because of "injuries".

Well, you should still have three in the non-conference, though that game at Rice suddenly looks a little tricky. You have Indiana at home to end the season (EDIT: Holy crap, Purdue lost to Indiana at home last season? I just assumed that game was away. My bad, at Indiana), though they may improve as the year goes on. You also have Minnesota to start the year, which might be the high water mark (Purdue is 4-1 under Caleb Terbush! This is remarkable! I have absolutely no memory of last season!) I can't imagine four wins and three straight years of missing bowl games could be enough though.

The worst part is that you always hear how ACL injuries are 12 months to get back on the field, but take longer to fully heal.

Well, with how injured that Purdue team was IU really should have won by more.

Ralph Bolden better be all Big Ten first team for them to have a chance.

 Considering Boob was still running the show at that point IU was lucky to win by any margin. Just grateful it did not save his job.

6-6 or more likely 6-7.

That really is my biggest problem. At best, with a few breaks, I think this is a 7 win team, but Danny Hope probably keeps his jobs because of "injuries" even if they go 5-7. I hope not.

I got a chance to meet Danny Hope at the B10 Luncheon. I had him sign my son's football. He couldn't have been more pleasant... completely opposite of what his "image" is. He was asking me some questions about where I lived, if I ever played, etc. He spent a couple minutes talking about what shitty hotels he used to stay in when he was recruiting around Chicago. He was really quite personable. I think he's actually a very good coach.... I have no idea about recruiting, but I would give the guy a pass for another couple years before turning the heat up on his seat.

I seem to remember Kirk Ferentz on the hot seat recently and he hasn't had a less than 6 win season since 2000. It's a win now time.

You would think that if they lost to IU again that Hope would be gone.

It's a bad friggin' precedent. No one whose school isn't Ohio State or Michigan in the Big Ten can expect to have such lofty expectations for a coach.

I don't know. I think when you are a consistent winner, you should expect more.

As an Iowa fan, I will not be happy with 7-5. I would not expect Bucky to happy with a 7-5 year. Same goes for Sparty fans.

Yes, some schools probably would accept a few down years, but by and large, it's all about winning these days.

Any coach who misses a bowl game three straight years should be fired. It's not that hard to make a bowl game.

The program is stagnant and still seems to have a hangover from the Tiller days.

This all assumes that Matt Painter didn't clear out the salary budget. If he did, then Hope is fine as a cheap alternative.

Haven't you upped your giving to the John Purdue Club?

This is college football, not the NFL. You should get credit for representing the school well (no major NCAA violations), graduating your players, AND then winning. You guys sound like Charlie Sheen with all this "winning" talk. I'm sorry, but as good as the recent history of Wisconsin, Io_a, and MSU have been... they are not THE Ohio State University or University of Michigan. And frankly, they probably never will be. Can you be content with supporting them in this context?

As the great Coach Norman Dale once said "I would hope you would support who we are. Not, who we are not. These 100 individuals have made a choice to work, a choice to sacrifice, to put themselves on the line 12 nights for the next 4 months, to represent you, this university. That kind of commitment and effort deserves and demands your respect. This is your team."

At some point that rah rah stuff has to go by the boards. I'd say three straight losing seasons at a school that spent most of the late 90s and 2000s going to bowl games is a reasonable expectation. And Hope is a throbbing asshole so I don't feel all that awful for him.

The fan base is frustrated by not going to a bowl since 2007, and that bowl being the worst one a Big Ten team can automatically qualify for.

I assume Irish Boy's dislike of Hope comes from what he said about Zook running up the score. That's understandable but it is true that Zook was running up the score.

At some point this "winning at all costs" stuff has to go by the boards.
