Neither of them have a lot of sports knowledge outside the sports they covered (NFL, NHL) but one could be tolerable, the other is fuckin Hanley

Anyone who thinks Hanley knows baseball is wrong.

Anyway, Mulligan is at least slightly likeable with some interesting stories. He can definitely play a Jurko type if he had a strong personality, like Bernstein, to work with.

The problem is when Mully tells a story, Hanley interjects a bunch of terrible zingers and references and the story doesnt deliver because the flow has been ruined and its been built up too much.

Its almost like Hanley is afraid if he stays quiet for more than 10 seconds, no one will know he's on the show.

Here's the best part: None of Hanley's references/interruptions are funny, interesting, or even funny on an ironic level.

Hanley is that guy in the group that not only has to have a word on every issue, he goes to great lengths to draw himself in to every comment, even if he has nothing to add. To the point where his inclusion in social plans elicits groans and defenders saying "Oh...he's not that bad"

He is that bad and more.

Like I said, neither of them are great, but Mulligan could be part of a good show. Hanley absolutely could not.

Hanley is the worst host in the history of shows.

The worst Jerry.

I don't care for Hanley. His little comments are usually dumb and meaningless. He tends to be overly negative, which is a problem with talk radio in general. He is a big second guesser/Monday morning QB.

In my sports radio world, Dummy and Handjob scarcely exist since I listen to them so rarely.

You are spot on RPB. Hanley's understanding of sports is pretty simple, and he reminds me of a lot of old folks I talk sports with. I'm sure there is an audience for that, but I don't care for it myself.

And yes, his zingers are brutal. BRUTAL. Harry is funnier.

Moreover, the thing I noticed lately is that both of them are really fucking bad at interviewing people. The questions are sooooo drawn out, have multiple questions contained inside the rant, and often end without an actual question. Mully typically can lead the interviews, but when Hanley steps in, it's immediately a bad question. And what I hate more, is Mully will be asking a question, and Hanley will talk over him, try to add to it... OR, intercept the question, answer it a little, change it, and then leave it to the interviewee to respond. It's insane.

Agreed. Obviously Mully isnt perfect either. He does get a little Coppock-esque with his questions but next to Hanley he sounds great.

And the intercept change is a good thought. He does that all the time...

Like if theyre interviewing a Cub reporter or coach...

Mulligan: Well ya know he's got a boatload of talent but, with the way this Castro doesnt pay attention, and Bobby Valentine critiquing him, what do you do when...

Hanley: BOBBY VALENTINE NEVER WON ANYTHING IN THE STATES. BOBBY VALENTINE won in japan. Any good Japanese SS on the horizon who pay attention?

Cub reporter: Um...

Hanley is certainly the least-listenable of the two, and his interjections just make the flow of conversation non-existent. If you throw in Brad Biggs into the fray, you have 20 minutes of the worst radio in the area.

Out of curiosity one day while driving to work I feel like I should count the number of interruptions these two throw at one another from one commercial break to the next.

Mully is no prize himself. I actually have to turn my radio down because he is yelling at me so loudly.

Both awful, both make my colon explode and saying Mully is saying being fucked by an elephant is better than being banged by a giraffe.

On a related note, did anyone get a chance to hear the new "Score every show advertisement" complete with 2 sec clips of each show? It was like a 2 sec clip that encompasses the raw nectar each show.

Big Voice: "Annnd fill your morning drive with 2 of Chicago's highest rated sport talk hosts, Mully and Hanley!" and the clip is of Mully, literally, screaming at you,....."WHAAAAAT ARE YOOOOUUUU....."then it cuts off. I crapped myself, I think 670 knows Mully can't stop screaming and is making light of it.

The B&B one was funny two "And from 1 to 6 leave it on for Chicagos best sports talk in the afternoon, Boers and Bernstein" and it's the Bernstein doing "Whhaaaaa?" and then Boers doing the "creep deep laugh" that they Huuuuhh huuuh huhhhhh.

Mully is just awful. The yelling is one thing. He has become the Hawk Harrelson of sports radio...Whenever the Sox are playing badly, he ignores it and goes into deep Bears talk. But when they go on a slight winning streak against crappy teams he goes apeshit Sox crazy.

I guess that is the manic nature of sports talk.

According to his BIO, Hanley has covered the Illini, Northwestern, Sox, Cubs, Hawks & Bulls.

There's not nearly enough content though. And no one would listen but us. And even we'd hate listening to us after a little bit.

I'll admit that I haven't heard even 5 minutes of M&H morning show. (I sleep late) I used to listen when they were on before Murph.
In fact, I haven't really listened to the Score for much more than 10 minutes at a time since about June. I've found other options, mostly podcasts.

Brian Hanley will NEVER be as irritating (to me) as Holmes, Spiegel, or McNeil are.

BRAD BIGGS TALKS FOOTBALL WITH YOU.... even though we don't take calls during his segment -- to you would be more appropriate billing.

This entire show needs to be imploded. I would actually not mind Meat taking over the morning show with a tbd co-host that absolutely is not Mac. I can't stand him most of the time in his current format but he could work for a morning show. I have found that I actually like him( ) when he is interviewing a guest....it's just the annoying burrito banter between him and Mac and the awful personal life shit I don't like. He seems like a totally different person when he is doing an interview with a guest.

actually.... after thinking about this the morning show should be Berns and Meat. I think that would work...but they need to be on longer than the current time slot....maybe 1 more hour. Then have Goff and someone TBD for the mid day show and Mac and Terry do the drive home. Loho can move to fucking Arizona...permanently.
