Brett Jackson is ready to come up next week so Soriano better pick out his seat on the bench because he is going to be in it for a good while.
Is Cashner going the way of Angel Guzman or will he be able to pitch again?

Pitched last night in AA. 2/3 of an inning with a total of 23 pitches.

In even more shocking news out of AA......McNutt actually pitched something like 7 innings in a game which is awesome for him as he usually was limited to 3.

Another day....another Brett Jackson HR. Any time you want to tell Soriano to go on vacation and visit big Z for a month you can feel free to do so Randy Bush.

I hate to tell you, or say it. Brett Jackson is going to suck. I really hope I'm wrong. But they project him as a top of the order guy. You don't strikeout like that at the top, unless you're with a bad Cub team.

He has a hell of a lot more power than I thought. I think he is the Cubs version of Corey Hart, which won't be bad. I don't think he is a lead off guy...maybe 2 if he can cut down on the k's and keep the average up or 5 or 6 with that power.

We need to see other teams pine for him. Even when he was drafted, the stats didn't add up. Top of the order guy, that struck out (memory) 120 times in his last year in school. You've really wanted him up. I hope he is awesome and would happily admit I'm wrong.

I don't think he's Corey Hart. He's more Curtis Granderson pre- crazy insane MVP calibur 2011 season.

He may strike out a lot, but he also walks a ton which negates it.

Does Lahair deserve a shot at the 1b job next season? I know he is very old for a prospect but his stats this year are quite impressive. .331 37 108 in 450 AB's. I've never seen the guy play. Is he a butcher at 1st?

He should be playing 1st right now since this season is over to see if he can.

Big Z can pack his shit as he is no longer needed. Trey McNutt went yard last night.

Cashner pitched 1 inning and k'ed the side in AA

Vitters hit his 13th. He is batting .283 with 13 bombs and 72 RBI. 21 walks in around 480 AB's but only 52 k's. He just turned 22 on Saturday.

Really.

So, I can take my Josh Vitters jersey out of the garbage?

And why have I have I not thrown out the garbage in 2 years?

Your 2011 Arizona Fall League Cubs

Junior Lake
Cashner
Carpenter
DJ
Brett Jackson
McNutt

Apparently Randy Bush won't be calling up Brett Jackson which doesn't make a god damn bit of sense. Cashner is coming up to work out of the pen though.

.765 OPS in his 2nd year in double A and 24 errors. You may want to keep that jersey right where it is.

He was promoted at the end of last year. This year was not his first full year in AA. Check yo-self before you wreck yo-self.

Cut Keyser some slack, he is not in his right mind, he is clinging to some hope that the Sox can still make the playoffs.

He played 68 games and had to go back because he couldn't dominate. Hosmer played 50 games in double A and moved on. Castro 57. Moustakis 66. That's what top prospects do. Vitters is at 186 games and counting and he still can't dominate.

The light bulb still may go on for the guy. Still young. Doubtful though I must say.

Brett Jackson isn't going to the Arizona fall league. He was pulled because of 'another commitment' which probably means he'll be playing in the Pan Am games. Josh Vitters is going back to the AFL instead and interestingly is listed as an outfielder.

I think the Brett Jackson discussion can be put on hold. Much bigger.

Huh. Well isn't that interesting. Hard to believe an established GM would come here and have his staff already picked out for him. Contrary to what he said it looks like Ricketts might be looking for some new blood.

That is exactly why an established and promising GM will not be going to the Cubs. They are going to get some fucking hack. Wait for it.........Ed Lynch will be named GM within 2 weeks.

Agree with UMN on this. Why would an established gm come in given this action by the cubs and ricketts? It goes right to the heart of what a gm believes in that it is his organization to orchestrate and build. The cubs now have a meddling owner and a boob president and a shitty ballpark with shitty salaries and shitty players and shitty prospects. It is not a job or a situation that a high profile gm is going to want to come into. Maybe I'm wrong, but it doesn't look good.

It's not neccessarily a bad thing if Ricketts is looking for a young up and coming GM. The best GM's in the game had to start somewhere. The rub is if you think Ricketts is capable of identifing the next big up and coming GM and if that person can succeed with their staff already in place.
