2 of the 5 coaches that voted for you were in the MAC.

That's sad that less than half of our conference coaches supported us. I bet if you look at the CUSA coaches every single one of them voted for UCF and probably voted them high.
Well, it looks like about 90% of the entire voting base voted for UCF so you are probably right.

Once again, there is nothing wrong with it. If I was a MAC coach I'd almost always give the benefit of the doubt to the teams in my conference. The point is that the gaudy records and amount of MAC coaches who get a vote can overrate a team(see Ball State in 2008). That's why when Central Michigan finishes in the top 25 they may not be better than Illinois even though they aren't ranked.

So, its very much possible for NIU to be Illinois' highest ranked team at seasons end?

Possible but unlikely. If they lose two of the three between Wisconsin, at Toledo, and at Bowling Green, they won't have any votes at the end of the year, and they'll likely be underdogs in each. A bad loss against Wisconsin alone could put a bad taste in people's mouths for the rest of the year.

I don't think any Illinois teams have any votes at the end of the season.

I don't see Wisconsin blowing us out. We have an offense that can keep pace with their's. Last time we played Wisconsin (2009) we barely had an offense and we only lost 28-20.

Last time you played Wisconsin, they were a mediocre Big Ten team that nearly lost to Indiana and Fresno State and did lose to Northwestern. You were outgained by 160 yards and it took a late onside kick recovery to get the game within one score. This isn't the 2009 Badgers.

Pretty sure they won 10 games that year, while we only won seven. They had a pretty good season in 2009 and were ranked 16th.

And you're wrong, we were already within one score, then we recovered an onside kick with the chance to tie the game.

They won 10 because they had a Charmin-soft OOC, like Wisconsin does almost every year. They went 5-3 in conference, beat no one of consequence until the bowl against Miami, and got passed up by Northwestern during bowl selection, which should tell you something. They were a mediocre team that year.

Most BCS schools have "Charmin-soft OOC" schedules. If you're going to look at it that way then every season there are a lot of mediocre teams finishing in the top 25 with easy non-conference schedules.

Regardless, they had a much better season than us and we were still within one score of them.

They didn't play another BCS school. Softer than most.

We can have this fun little debate in two weeks.

So just so we can look back on this later. How many points do you think NIU will lose by to Wisconsin NIU_Huskie?

Also, for reference, he thought NIU should have been favored by 7 at Illinois last year.

Too early to tell because Wisconsin doesn't seem to be playing anyone worthwhile before us. They played UNLV, who sucks. Then they play Oregon St who lost to a 1-AA team.

I'd like to see how our D does against a more conventional offense, such as Kansas. It did well against Army, but Army is different.

 You already said you think your offense can keep up with their's and you don't see them blowing you out. It wasn't too early to tell then.

Just come out and say how many points you think NIU will lose by. This will help avoid the coming situation where Irish Boy bumps this thread when NIU loses by 21 and you say "It wasn't a blowout".

Give up a Td on fourth and goal from the six with nine second left. Tough loss for the Huskies.

Our defense got shredded. I'm afraid of what the Wisconsin running game is going to do against us.

We should have let Kansas just go ahead and score when there was over a minute left. They would have only been up by a FG and our offense was moving the whole game. No reason to expect the defense to stop them at the end when they hadn't stopped them the entire game.

5-4 down the stretch still seem like a reach, Scorehead?

Right now I'd say there's only 2 games that they might be an underdog, maybe 1 depending on how Ohio St. looks going forward.

Illinois is much better than I thought, especially their defense. It's still early, but the Illini could end up being the 3rd or 4th best team in the big 10/11/12. They haven't started 3-0 in 10 years & had not beat a ranked opponent since 2007 so they're off to a great start.

Cant say that until the end of the season. There is a lot of football left.

I bet Robert Krafts people are contacting Ron Zooks people!
