What you just heard was the sound of stomachs dropping everywhere.

The details of the situation are very limited, but according to WTXL ABC 27 (Tallahassee) anchor Anne Imanuel, former Florida State head coach Bobby Bowden is set to make an “emotional” announcement regarding his health tomorrow on “Good Morning America”.

We will obviously have a follow-up to this story the moment we know more.

Bowden, 81, coached Florida State from 1976-2009 and won national titles in 1993 and 1999.

From a personal stance, I’ve had the distinct privilege of speaking with Bowden this past spring, and he is as genuine and likeable as any person you will ever meet.

And, unfortunately, the news of the “emotional announcement” comes a little over a month after current FSU coach Jimbo Fisher and his wife announced that their six-year-old boy, Ethan, has a rare disease called Fanconi Anemia.

Obviously, our thoughts are with the Bowden family during this time

The former Florida State football coach explained his diagnosis with prostate cancer and why he kept it secret until now this morning on "The Dan Patrick Show". He said it had to do with recruiting...
