Caught a little of the show today - why wasn't it THE SHOW?

Seems like it would have been a great chance to let people sample Silvy and Waddle. Is Waddle on vacation too?

I just wondered the same thing as they just said that Hood is on solo tonight.

Is Waddle too good for Hood?

I think Waddle is on vacation. Coppock filled in for him on "The final Word" last night. You would think they would have scheduled better for MJH vacation and given Waddle a chance at the afternoon shift to gain an appeal with ESPN 1000 listeners.

Aside from a better show what difference would it make if they put Waddle on in the afternoon? Even if I or all of radio land loved him from his afternoon appearance would we tune in during his regularly scheduled evening hours? I always tune into Salisbury and Rosenblum to see if Waddle's on, if he's not, then I turn it off. I never tune in after seven just to hear Waddle on the show. He needs a better time slot.

I threw in some CD's after 10 minutes. Other alternatives for this weeks fill-ins.. Washing my car , cutting the lawn, sticking a sharp stick in my eye. The Score will get my biz or a CD.

Well then, there's no reason to do shows if Stu-Gotz isn't listening.

Sometimes I think you guys ask for too much. I feel that MJH jr (Defalco, Dickerson and Silvy) are nice subs for the boys.

When Silvy and Carmen sub for MJH, why do they spend so much time talking about MJH? It's like they're trying to make us forget that MJH aren't around. They'd be better off just doing their regular "straight"--and I use that term advisedly--show.

Not sure I would call that show yesterday a "crapfest". It was pretty good. All 3 guys are solid and work well together. Here's a newsflash--They're not MJH! And as far as I can tell, they don't claim to be. It's not like when Larry subs in on the Score and acts like he's better than the actual host he's filling in for.

thought it was a good show as well, but my opinion doesn't go very far on these boards on this type of stuff.

Come on Ryan, don't take it that way bro...Sometimes on the board we're known for things that we probably don't do that much, but it gets blown out of proportion. Like me for instance. I'm accused of being a race baiter or only posting about things regarding race. Is that true? No, but I take it.

Do you always talk about Silvy and Carm? No..
Does Doug talk about the ex all of the time? No..
Does Matt in the Crown bitch about streaming every day? Well Next Question..LOL..

Ryan, I'm with you, but like you my opinion on the guys isn't considered objective. Sometimes people here act like ESPN is just supposed to have dead air in place of MJH, and don't even give these guys a chance.

I do agree that Silvy spends too much time talking about MJH - almost like he's trying to prove he listens to gain credibility with the regular audience. I do agree they should forget they are doing MJH and go for their show as much as possible.

I will admit that I too, am a MJH, homer. my objectivity on MJH is on par with my Brady Quinn love.

wasn'tplaying the sympathy card, just stating the facts. And while youknow this spmack, there are numerous posters that lock into their ideas and stick with them. I agree with Scholar that I think its funny how some people do act like dead air is the only thing that shouild be going from 3 - 7 when MJH isn't there.

For the record, my original post was not to bash the show that was on. To be honest, I only caught about 10 minutes of it yesterday so I couldn't really form an opinion.

My thought was that if ESPN is really going to put forth a new show like Silvy and Waddle, they would want to showcase it to introduce an audience to it.

I understand Jagr Bomb's point, but I do occasionally listen in the evenings and if I knew there was a show I really enjoyed, I'd leave it on rather than the button punching I do in the evening trying to find something.

Also, something tells me THE SHOW might find another time slot soon and I'd like to hear more of it to see how I like it.

I agreed with your initial point Doc. If they want to build an audience with Silvy and Waddle, they might as well take advantage of this time to do it. Maybe they think these two are known quantities, and don't feel they need this? Or Waddle has to get his vacation time out of the way, although that seems stupid since he had time off after leaving WGN.
