two sources, the NFL network and Foxsports.com are reporting that the Bears and Redskins are contemplating the following trade:

Lance Briggs + pick 31 to the Skins for pick 6.

Jerry trading up? The sky is falling.
I would hope they would get another low round pick also, at least a 6th or 7th.

Will Calvin Johnson fall to 6?

That was the first question I asked myself as well. And the answer is - no way in hell. But... I still feel that if you could get a first round pick for Briggs at this point (moving from 31 to 6 is the equivalent of a mid 1st rd pick, as per the chart), you pull the trigger. I'd rather have an extra 1st rounder for the next 5-10 years than Briggs for the next 10 months. And if there's nobody that knocks your socks off at 6 (or nobody that fills a big need), then you trade down and pick up an extra day one selection or two.

If this actually gets done, I would look for the Bears to trade and slide a few spots down and pickup a late third or early fourth, then select Olsen with their first pick.

Swami Murph would be proud 8)

Nobody did it like Mike. It looks like he has about a foot to spare.

Bucket, you have found the perfect Basketball avatar.

I say Pippen in his dunk contest jumped from even further, at least a foot to a foot and half from the line. Regarding Briggs, I'd do the deal in a heartbeat.

Quinn is overrated, huh?

o.k. Nas....I suspect your basing this on the two ND games you watched, right? OSU vs. ND and LSU vs. ND.

id take anything over a rex grossman type career. Quinn dwarfs rex in every aspect of being a quaterback, its just a shame that the bears #1 weakness is at the most important position.

I'm with you Nas. Mediocre at best. He's been good against BAD teams, and average to downright horrible against good to great competition.

If you want me to compare Quinn to someone it would be Cutler. Plus if any of that bs that we hear about charlie weiss and his complicated offensive system is true Quinn should be more nfl ready.

Brady Quinn won't be a bust, but he won't be anything more than an average QB. The talent of his WR's and TE's was able to let him throw the ball up for grabs and get it. I wouldn't take Brady Quinn until the middle of the first round. There are many players in the draft that are much more sure things.

The problem with Brady Quinn is that he has hype from being the QB at Notre Dame, having Charlie Weis coach him for 2 years, and being the Heisman front runner going into the season.

I know that being a Purdue fan means that I have a built in bias against him but I would not want the Bears to pick Quinn with the 6th pick(if they get it) and he won't be available at the pick they currently have.

fine....Quinn will be a top 6 QB in 3 years tops and he'll stay there for another 5-6 years.

Based on what? Because you're a Notre Dame fan? I'm an Illini fan and Kurt Kittner had a hell of a senior season, but I was smart enough to know that wouldn't equate to a successful pro career. Quinn's upside is of course larger, but that still doesn't mean he's going to be leading his team to many playoff games.

Actually I went illinois and am an illini fan, but i base quinn being better than grossman on the fact that his strengths (height, arm strength, athleticism) seem to be the same weaknesses that rex has. The only advantage I would give to rex is his experience and abiltiy to read defense, but from what I saw im not exactly sure this could be a strength for rex. He seemed to lock into receivers quite a bit.

True, a SB team would not start a rookie, but whats the difference between a true rookie and a qb who plays like a rookie. Im not saying that Quinn will have Tom Brady success, but maybe Ben Roethlisberger. If rex indeed has a "cannon" than what was that duck to Muhammad in the SB? I have never seen rex throw in person but from a far, cannon isnt how I would describe his arm.

...oh i just remembered it was the rain, rex basically pinned his inability to handle a snap on the weather so i can only assume that the ball must of slipped out of his hand...

dstrez, the community college in my old hometown is going under major renovations. PM me if you'd like more info on the place. It's a beautiful little campus.

it's easy to predict he'll suck....it takes some balls to predict his greatness.

Rex does have a cannon. His problem is that his type of cannon doesn't go through defenders hands.
