Some women have a special brand of hostility for about six weeks before and after childbirth. Thanks for the reminder.

I voted to ban Mao; however, if a decision is to be made, I believe it should come from the posters who have been members of this board for a considerable amount of time. What should be considered "considerable" is probably up for debate. I've only been a member for four months or so, so maybe I shouldn't have the influence as say Doc, Doug, Stu, Coast, Spaulding, etc... Just my opinion.

Do not misconstrue this as an accusation that Midge has fathered Mao for this purpose. In fact, I don't believe he did. Mao is trying hard to plagiarize an act much loved and missed on this board. Midge has enough talent and creativity to had come up with a more unique character.

I sense an Anusface subtext.

Interesting hypothesis, but inaccurate.

All's good here Coach. I have a full bottle of nitro pills.
She must have known I was coming back today. I have been suffering "potty-mouth Spaulding" withdrawal lately. I should look through her posts to see if I missed any other gems.
I have been busy lately. When I would check in, the board was littered with Mao this and Rooney's cirlce-jerk that. I didn't have time to sift through the shit. So I would just leave without contributing any of my own nonsense. We also have many newer posters that I have not decided if I should ignore or not. Now that I have some time, I can update my pay-no-mind list.

Mr.Pickles must step in directly on the toes of the posting stupid that post here.

Mr.Pickles is not Mao, or any of the other moron's who need multiple usernames in order to achieve some kind of "internet coolness". Mr.Pickles leaves that for the people who truly take their e-life seriously.

*snicker, snicker*

Don't worry Mr. Pickles, no one here thought you were Mao. That would be an insult.
Compared to you, Mao is a creative genius.

Embarrassing. :D

Nope, I don't like it. I don't like it at all.
Not because I have a hatred for DLR, but because your Mike North negative was what I associated you with. I am a big believer in board symmetry and you had that avatar from the beginning. Your musings should be delivered by North, just as mine should be delivered by Groucho. I'll get used to it, reluctantly.
We must have had some avatar trouble, because when I came back Groucho was gone. I could not bring myself to post until I was able to put him in his proper place.

You didn't ask me but I also think you should change back to your signature North avatar. This coming from a guy who's only had one and can't figure out how the hell to get it back since it disappeared last week. Your current one is good but...just...not KS. The only avatar change I've really liked on this board was Spaulding's with the pink taco. Other than that the change throws me off. I'm not so smart and need my consistency. 97X, bam! The future of rock 'n' roll. 97X, bam! The future of rock 'n' roll. 97X, bam! The future of rock 'n' roll...

Yeah Hawkeye, you need to get yours back. You've had that one from the beginning, too.
I just want things to be the way they were, in the good ol' days.

well - do you at least like the kinder, gentler, insane-r Keeping Score my good friend Mr. Reason?
You don't really want the old one back do you?

Well, I do miss the pudwhacky KS. The glory days, when you didn't care if people liked you or not. You can still be kind and gentle if you think you need to pander to certain people here, but don't completely ban that bug from your ass. You were always just alright with me, even before you became a bit watered down. Don't lose the edgeness entirely.

Is that still going on? I've been out of pocket for a while; thought I noticed that it died mid round 1.

At first I didn't see the merit, but I must say I enjoyed reading the vote rationale. Good stuff.

Big Fan could implement an 'ignore' function. Lots of message boards have them. It shouldn't be difficult at all with this software.

That would be a nice compromise for those who are having trouble with the signal-to-noise ratio and for those who want the technicolor CSFMB experience.

Personally, I don't see the idea of banning Douchebag as a free speech issue.

It's not Douchebag's opinions--political or otherwise--that are the problem. Rather, it's his conscious decision to make posts lacking any substantive opinion that has damaged the board. Douchebag's bombardment of the board with nonsense functions as a concerted strategy to undermine discussion by rendering his brand of incoherence as the pervasive, defining feature of the board. Flood the board with nonsense, the logic of this scheme goes, and the board itself becomes nonsensical. Because conversation depends on coherence, an incoherent message board is, ipso facto, an extinct message board.

With the above in mind, I do nevertheless concede that Douchebag hasn't been particularly tenacious in his tactics. He has, after all, only posted around 10325 times. Further, his strategy isn't always successful: Sometimes the board collectively ignores him.

Still, while Douchebag hasn't destroyed the board, the impact of his tactics has been corrosive and ennervating. His campaign of indecipherability has clearly frustrated a broad range of posters, thereby lowering board morale and motivating some to leave at least temporarily. For instance, Woodridge Ryan, one of the board's most prolific, reasonable and highly regarded posters has explicitly stated that he is taking an extended break from posting due to the frequent trolling of Douchebag and others. Other posters have expressed similar sentiments. To some degree, then, Douchebag has realized his objective.

Consequently, while some worry about the effect banning Douchebag will have on "free speech" in this forum, I worry about the effect failing to take action against Douchebag will have on free speech here. Indeed, Douchebag's pattern of willful nonsense clearly identifies itself as a form of anti-communicative discourse that has already constricted the diversity of opinion here and threatens to do so even more in the future.

FIXED
