I agree Mr. Fan.

If nothing else, transition with LoHo will be a treat.

Entertaining thread ... I did the updates from Chicagoland Speedway because I was paid extra for doing them. I guess the suits were in a bind and didn't have an available anchor.

Also, feel free to join us in the Monday Night Raw thread in 30.

I would, but I'm not watching. I'm at Wrigley and listening to MNF ...

Both of those sound painful, unless we're talking MNF on the radio...the TV crew is awful

Matt,

Kudos to you for chasing a nickel, when a nickel is to be had.

Curious to hear what your ultimate goal is in radio. Or is it radio? Obviously you've chosen a slightly new path with the Cubs beat, but overall you've seem pretty content in producing and doing the occasional air shift.....but what would be your ideal gig? A scheduled, and consistent, show by yourself? Or one with a partner? Perhaps you want to get into TV? Maybe you want to head to ICB and teach, full time? Maybe you're wanting to continue EXACTLY what you're doing now?

Also, do you think the Bears' secondary will play a key role in their game against Green Bay? I do.

Yours,
Harold

It's sad to see how Beardown just got owned. Oh well.

This coming from a member of a unit which constantly lashes out at all callers who take this type of approach -- making points based solely on strawman logic or straight opinion-driven.

Matt & Jason both have said that the strawman stuff is not on them, they produce the show but they can't tell the host what or how to say what they say.

If I were to stay at the Score, I'd like to have a regular show with a partner - preferably Jason. That has been and continues to be my goal. If I continue doing what I am - producing, reporting, hosting - I'd still like to have a partner ... not sure why there are any solo shows on the station.

Next baseball season if I'm on the Cubs beat again, I'd like to cover every home game and travel to the "local" road games which would mean that I wouldn't be a part of B&B any longer. If that happens, I'd still like to host when I can and anchor if needed.

I'm going to be on channel 2 every Monday (6:20am) to do a Bears hit ... maybe that will turn into something down the road somewhere in television. They asked and I'd be stupid not to do it.

If nothing changes for me, I'm content for now to continue in my role at the Score.

As far as the Bears/Packers game goes, I believe that all the players who play in the game will factor into which team wins and which team loses.

It was funny hearing Matt do a show, the other night, with no Scoreboard updates.....then the very next day he is DOING Scoreboard updates on another show?!?! Interesting.

On an unrelated note, I appreciate Goff's once-in-awhile challenges of Bernstein, but undoubtedly Matt is the most condescendingly simplistic with his questioning of some of Dan's opinions (which are always presented as FACTS). I appreciate that, as Dan is quick to attack any caller who has a point that may be counter to his.

I wonder how much more "successful" (however you grade that) a Matt show after B&B would be versus the current Larry badness?

dan is simply a disagreeable human being. He will often argue even with callers who are attempting to agree with him. Its reflexive.

Are you serious? You really think Mitch and Zim will Ok this? They're gonna pay for air travel, hotel, cabs and meal money for you to go to Cincy, St. Louis and Milwaukee? Do you not know who you work for? That will cost them over a grand for every 3-game series in these cities. That's more than what they pay you alone for covering 3 games.

I know Bruce Levine travels with the Cubs for ESPN Chicago but that's cuz Bristol is funding the ESPN Chicago site that he writes for. They fund all of the ESPN sites for the major cities. They're trying to dominate the internet and they have the money to take a loss, initially, as they start this up. The Score doesn't have that type of money. I shouldn't have to explain this to you. Mitch and Zim would never OK it for a good Cubs team. They're sure as hell not gonna allow it for what will be another 90 loss Cubs team next year.

Awwwww. That's nice. Except Goff said he'd want Larry as a partner. Bastard. After all you've two have been through together and he does you like that.

Thanks for that, nice to read what your plan(s)/goal(s) are. Seems like that industry is a whole lot "right place, right time" (in addition to hard work/talent etc). Hopefully dominoes end up falling in a way that benefit you! Lot of dbags in radio, it seems, and you appear to be a decent dude.

To me, it seems like going further down that Cubs Beat Road wouldn't be a great move.....I'm certainly hopeful that other avenues will open up for you (and perhaps a couple of other dudes at the station).

Do we have a run down on the contract status of the on-air talent? Seems like at least two of the "regularly aired" shows are universally panned by the die hards....hope the PD has the balls to make some decent changes.

Mitch will always play it safe & make the safe decision. He's not a risk taker. If he had a set he would give Drinky & Jason a regular air shift. They would certainly be better than the shit show that currently airs from 9-1.

The search function here is a jury-rigged piece of shit, so I can't empirically prove it, but Beardown has been talking about "Mitch and Zim" a LOT lately.
