I know the haters are out, but somehow they got the best ratings the score has had in the mornings in 10 years?

I mean it's not like they had multiple chances at having shows and failed?

ESPN simply doesn't even try to offer a true local morning sports show.

They could but they won't even try. You get the stupid and inane ESPN blowjobs Mike and Mike which is a truly awful show with a gimmick and schtick that was tired 1 week after it debuted.

It really is a lack of trying and effort on ESPNs part.

Tallest midget. They are better than North was in the morning. That's not a very high bar, though. Terrestrial radio in the morning in Chicago is awful. I usually don't turn the radio on until I get to my desk. It's a cd or I hook my mp3 player up for the drive to work. I can honestly tolerate Hanley more than I can Mulligan. Mully is just too damn yelly.

To be honest, I wouldn't listen to ESPN if they went local in the morning. The crappy corporate monolith can kiss my ass. Fuck the mouse.

You do realize what you think is the reason they have good ratings, is the same reason North claims he had bad ratings? In his first webiocast he had Greenie on to talk about how hard it was for North to compete against ESPN.

hanley has no choice but to interrupt, mulligan never stops running his big fat mouth.

Disagree. Mulligan does talk a lot, but thats not why Hanley interrupts. Its just how he talks.

Hanley actually made a halfway decent joke today. Mully said something about having a breakfast date with some girl in New Orleans and Hanley interjects "Was it room service?"

But instead of letting that decent joke breathe and get a reaction to it, He Hanleys it up with 4 more comments each a worse attempt at humor than the last

Was it Jumbalayah?...You guys Party all night?...Ill bet you had a bloody mary

Awful.

those are awful jokes and not remotely funny, that is the problem with the show..too many courtesy laughs only encourages the other to keep firing away thinking they are getting a laugh

The room service line was well timed....blind squirrel nut...Im sure if Hanley could redo it he'd time it differntly.

That just means that a lot of radios were tuned to 670. That doesn't mean they have a good show.

Maybe a lot of those people "just happened" to tune in at a certain time...

I do think that is a big part of it. I think the station as a whole gets, or loses, listeners and I think 2 of those elements that get people to PTFB are Larry and Famer/DJ (Not necessarily Sox games)...North was in that category as well.

Bigfan, I'm pretty confident that if Loho had the 5-9 slot he would have better ratings than Yelly and Screamy.

They talked about Jim Leyland's drawers for the 5 minutes I listened. Literally 5 minutes of terrible jokes and terrible texts about a mans underwear.

It's like if Boers & Bernstein went on strike and WSCR hired scab hosts to imitate them.

Very well put, except I put more of it on Mully....I'd go 60/40 maybe even 70/30.

Not even close. I would wager huge money on it.

Larry has had and has shows, the ratings never pan out?

I understand why the young hip crowd does not like Mully and Hanley, but having Larry on the air would lose a huge segment of the morning audience in a hurry.

One thing Mitch knows are the demographics of his morning show and from what I have been told, Larry would lose them in a hurry!

i would put 70% of the blame on mulligan and 30% on hanley.

larry the lame could never keep that audience, in fact the only other guy in town who could draw worse than larry is harry teinowitz if given that slot..mike n mike is so bad anything local will outdraw it..but larry and harry would probably break that trend

Nope. Mulley never shuts up. If the sound of his own voice was corporate, he'd immediately ditch his wife and family in favor of it. Even if his own voice two-timed him and treated him like shit, and occasionally beat him, he'd always stand by it, claiming "I can't stay mad at you."

The grotesque thing about all this is that his voice is unequivocally irritating. Moreover, he clearly values his ability to growl-talk, which happens to be the most irritating way he can speak. Again I say: he's Score Berman.

Cant see it.

I cant believe how you guys are underselling how bad Hanley is.

As far as bad jokes/bad hosting goes, he's a once in a generation talent.

He's the Jordan/Gretzky of bad.

his voice is bad, agreed..sounds like he needs to clear his throat and too high pitched and he rambles endlessly

Correct. You can tell when Hanley is paired with a guest-host. His Mickey Mouse voice and idiotic one-liners are annoying, but Mully is cancer.

there was also a very awkward moment right when they brought Brad Biggs on....he said something about how he thought they were talking about Jerry Angelo (rather than Reinsdorf)...there was silence for a bit then an awkward laugh from M&H. i had no idea why he said that or what the joke was even supposed to be

they might as well make it a 3 man booth since Biggs has pretty much the same as M&H, including the girth of Mully
