I think Mike Martz is a boob who happened to get lucky for 1 or 2 years, but I'm tired of the Mike Martz talk & all the focus & blame being heaped on him. Lovie Smith is the fucking head coach of the Bears & he hired Martz. The head coach is responsible for every aspect of the team. If Lovie doesn't like what Martz is doing, then fix it.

Go look at what virtually every other veteran QB has gone for, including those outplaying him like Schaub and Kevin Kolb.

Matt Schuab has weapons Cutler could only dream of. Andre Johnson, even Owen Daniels are miles ahead of what the Bears have at reciever. Watching the game Sunday the Texans could run the ball even with their back up running back. Forte had 1 run of 42 yards then had 9 carries for 7 yards against the Saints.

If Cutler was in Houston and Schuab in Chicago, I am sure Cutler's numbers and Schaub's would look much different.

This is where quarterbacks come to die.

Think Cutler is starting to regret signing that extension with the Bears?

No. I think the Bears may regret it.

first of all, you'd have to consider if schaub would even work in martz's scheme. i can tell you this, drew brees would be getting killed on 7 step drops just as bad...maybe worst. the guy is a statue. he has no mobility at all.

the bears offense played better when it was simplified last year; martz needs to pear it down again...

We can speculate all you want, and you may be right. I mainly brought them up to reference other QB's who were traded for significantly less who are performing at a higher level than him. In judging the trade, giving up all that value for someone who hasn't performed has to be viewed as a failure. If you want to give Cutler a pass for the lack of talent then go ahead. However, one of the major reasons for the lack of talent is that they gave up 2 draft picks that will give you two game changing prospects and another one in a round that can produce quality players.

So, by making the case that Cutler doesn't have enough talent around him to perform better than average you actually are making a case that the trade was a bad one.

I can't call that a bad trade. The major reason for the lack of talent on this Bear team is not the 2 first round draft picks the Bears gave up,it is the drafting of Dan Bazuin, Garrett Wolfe, Chris Williams, Jarron Gilbert, Juaquin Inglesias, Marcus Harrison, Michael Okwo and Major Wright in the first 3 rounds since 2007 or the pick they gave up for Gaines Adams.

With those 2 first round picks, Angelo would have taken a DT and a QB, both of which would either be on another team or out of football by now.
