score!

they finally lost their 90th game tonight

I want Bully Hendry's tenure to be defined by bad losing

last year still pisses me off the way they finished because they were far worse than their record, and I wanted Bully Hendry to lose big time

Quade is now the longest tenured manager in Chicago. Now that you can trade managers I think Bush should trade him along with a case of tall boy Special Exports and his entire 2012 salary to an independent league team for a case of bats. Quade would strap it up and manage that team too.

He didn't burn any bridges and his hiring might buy some time/good will for ownership. I think it's certainly possible.

year late, but i would be in favor of that one problem is ricketts strikes me as kinda dumb and not business savvy and lacking balls, i think the white sox have interest in sandberg too..and if i have to choose between reinsdorph/williams and ricketts/crane kenny/randy bush closing the deal..reins/williams will will close that deal

Only 5 more innings of Quade!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The asshole had to start his boy Dewitt of course tonight. No sense at all in giving DJ as many ab's as possible.

I'm a big Sandberg fan, He's my favorite baseball player, but if Ricketts is thinking that he's going to hire Sandberg as manager before he hires a baseball guy, that's just backwards & wrong. Hire the baseball guy first then find a manager. My guess is that Ricketts probably regrets not hiring Ryno & letting Hendry hire Quade & wants to bring Sandberg back to the organization. I'm all for it, but at least find a baseball man first & do things in the correct order.

Of course. And he gets Koyie Hill in there too.
Typical Quade.

There has been lots of chatter on Chicago radio that the Cubs are "reaching out to Sandberg" to try to mend any hard feeling for letting him go & that they may be interested in talking to Ryno about the Cubs mangers job.

That's not what I asked. You made it seem like they are on the verge of hiring a manager before a GM. Who is saying that, other than your crazy ass?

In all fairness, that HAS been the word out there. I've been hearing that too, I think even on the Score.
Not sure if it was in print, but it's been out there.
Who cares? Ryno fits the Sox (read: Reinsdorf) mold for a Manager.
New, Cheap, and Firey.

I think Ricketts is running his desire to have Sandberg as manager by candidates for the GM position to make sure they are open to the idea. There is no way he would actually hire him before the GM though.

Since when does "fairness" matter???

agreed...plus the Sox situation is a much better fit...there's not as much pressure to win...he would be a rookie manager and the Cubs job would be too much i think

plus, Sandberg being more old-school would fit into the more laid-back southside sensibility and would fit good in a Reinsdorfian economy as well
