You don't think Pun could get at Rakim? Personally, I think Pun took everything that Rakim did and made it better. Metaphors, wordplay, storytelling...all that shit.

See, Pun could easily be top 3 on my list. Too bad he was Puerto Rican.

I used to tell people I was Puerto Rican from 2000 to 2004. Then it got old.

I'm having a hard time remembering who knocked Luke out of #1. It might've been "Brenda's Got A Baby" by Pac.

agreed...it's not like they suddenly became less talented. they just kind of stick to their thing, which isn't all that bad. it has a longer lifespan than a punchline rapper like Redman, whose albums kind of got boring after the 3rd/4th one

I'd bump Missy Elliot and put in Fat Joe. Missy's too skinny now.

They are still dope. An argument can be made for Ghost, Meth and Rae to be in the top 15-25. Gza is no longer the best in the clan. He's been surpassed by those 3. They are still a top 3 group behind OutKast and the Roots imo. I'm just extremely disappointed that their sound stagnated. :(

I see that makes sense.

Gza's last album was nothing special
Masta Killa might be better now.

On FB there were so many people who had Lil Wayne in their top 10 that it made me sick. Someone even put him #1.

Lil Wayne sparks controversy as he proclaims himself the "best rapper alive, since the best rapper retired." He was referring to Jay-Z, who had been called such for years before announcing his retirement from rap last year.

"Yes I am. I am the best rapper alive," Lil Wayne said. He said that belief was further solidified "when Jay (Z) called me and said I am," after he listened to The Carter.

It took Lil Wayne, aka Lil Weezy, only two weeks to complete the album, but he's always practicing his craft.

If we had a current rappers list Lil Wayne wouldn't sniff my top 10.

If tried three (3) times to listen to a few of his tracks and see if I could even understand what people see/hear in him.

Its just soooooooo bad.

I remember when Ice T's 6th album "VI" came out one of my friends asked me if I'd heard T's new album yet.

Friend: Yo you heard Ice Ts new album yet?
Me: Nah. I didn't even know he had a new album out
Friend: yea its called Vee Eye. Dope as hell!
Me: Whats it called? Vee Eye?
Friend: Yea. Ice T Vee Eye
Me: Dub a tape for me later
