there will be lots of hope and optimism this spring rather than the hang dog losers you have been to start the last couple of seasons. I like it this way better as it is much more fun when they rip your heart out and stomp on it.

Keep hope alive and wait for Josh Vitters!

I agree, and they should make moves like that. Get young guys in here, build up the farm system. Trade away what money you can and what veterans have any value.

The Tony Campana's, Dustin Diamonds, etc of the minor leagues cannot play at the big league level. It does no good to have them up here.

Sports are different now. The days of teams being either really good or really bad for an extended period of time are over. Teams can go from last to first & visa versa. We have seen this happen in MLB & the NFL in recent years.
Also, don't underestimate the positive effect that good management & leadership can have on an organization.
Will the Cubs be picked to with their division next year? No, but anything can happen.
If the Cubs hire Theo & a real manager, I'm all in as a Cubs fan next year.

Depending on the GM and manager that is hired I could be. Hell, I thought the team this year could win the division. I am also a huge idiot but that is beside the point.

Hank, I see your point but it's going to take a few years for any competent baseball guy to sort out this pile of shit that is the Cubs system.

And I think I predicted the Cubs to win 83 this year. You weren't alone.

Without knowing the FA available,it's hard to say what the Cubs will look like. If they are going to do anything,I'd like to see some mid-level SP to add depth.

Teams can go from last to first quickly, but Ricketts makes it sound like it's the rule, not the exception.
