My advice would be to listen to The Colour & The Shape...their best work by far.

The last couple of weeks, I've been listening to them on Pandora. I'll be downloading some stuff this weekend. Thanks for the recommendation...

You know what's crazy? Rick Ross' verse didn't suck! Of course, he was rapping about the same old shit (cars, money, drugs, etc.) but it was okay. This is a nice smooth track. Estelle ain't the greatest female singer in the world though. There are some chicks at my church who could've murdered this track in her place.

Good song though.

And I hate Krazy Ivan.

Been listening to them a lot in the past few weeks. Pretty good stuff up to and including Welcome to Wherever You are. Full Moon, Dirty Hearts and Elegantly Wasted were pretty bad.

Estelle isn't a very good singer at all. That said, she has found her way onto some pretty good songs.
I have no real use for Rick Ross...

Arthur Russell- a forgotten genius. The guy virtually invented disco, he could write and play any genre, and he wrote and performed this track that I have already told my girlfriend she must play at my funeral.

I think what I'll do Ivan, is upload some jazz tracks to mediafire in a zip document and I'll email you the link. There's just way too much stuff to include here. I'll do that tonight. Consider it just another example of me being a cool mofo.

Edit: But if you need some instant ideas, you can't go wrong with Pharoah Sanders and Donald Byrd.

Important question though: Do you like latin jazz, like Carlos Santana, El Chicano, or WAR?

I also forgot about The Crusaders, Ivan.

Bagels, I'm not familiar with Ayler. I'll spend this evening educating myself.

City and Colour

I am impressed with these guys.

It is technically one guy, Dallas Green, from the post-hardcore / metalcore band Alexisonfire.

I think different guys join him for different songs and touring.

It is decent, a far cry from Alexisonfire, which is shitty, imo.

Yeah, I just found out about him this week so I need to do a little more digging.
I am not familiar with Alexisonfire at all.

Seeing these guys this week. Should be cool.

Watched this, then listened to the whole album on Spotify.
The lead male singer's voice is absolutely beautiful. I love this album.
Have a great time tonight at Turner Hall.

Concert was phenomenal, venue was great as well. I'm planning to see at least a show every few
months up there if the band is good and I can afford it. Already got my eye on a Feb show at the
Pabst. Tickets last night were $21 with fees and everything... can't beat it.

For spanky if he still posts out here... (from last night).... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcHtgm7vR9k

2 things.
A. My bad, I didn't know they had 2 male lead singers.
B. The video of Down in The Valley you posted was uploaded in June. :?

 Well, you get the idea anyway... can't believe I didn't notice that. I guess they opened up for
Iron and Wine back in June at the same venue.

No worries, T!
I wouldn't have probably heard of this band without your initial post.
I think I've watched this video about 10 times since yesterday.

The Head and the Heart is one of my new favorites, I was also telling T-bone about Motopony, they are also really good.

They've got about a 80/20 Killer to Filler ratio, IMO.
You really can't go wrong with any of their records.

I honestly forgot about having this on cd in a box in my closet. So I'm driving around Saturday trying to figure out what I wanted to eat, and Running Back comes on XRT...first thought I have is, "Where the hell is my copy of Jailbreak?"

Mutemath - All Or Nothing. Just when I thought Art Of Almost by Wilco might be song of the year, I hear this?
It's fucking awesome.

Yeah, I knew them from "Typical", but this new record seems to being going off in a completely different direction.
You should get on Spotify. The whole album is there.

ETA: I *only* knew them from Typical before.
