Biggie and I must have heard a different interview. I never heard him deny that he got the text from Ozzie. He said yeah, he did.

To me the best point Cooper made is that he is a 26 year employee and he deserves some job security too. If Guillen thinks he deserved an extension, why not that guy?

I think there is some truth to what Cowley writes but it's all spun in the service of Ozzie Guillen. I know Cowley wrote a long time ago that Kenny refused to let Cooper talk to the Yankees. Cooper pretty much confirmed that this morning. But Cowley's article is making it seem like Cooper is some Machiavellian character pulling all the strings behind the scenes. Does anyone really believe Don Cooper has that kind of power?

The Guillens act like they are some kind of crime family. Cowley called Cooper "Fredo"? No. This is how it breaks down. Ozzie = Don Corleone, Oney = Sonny, Ozzie Jr. = Fredo, Ozney = Michael, Cowley = Tom Hagen.

Cowley has been an Ozzie puppet for years, he is not well liked by anyone else. I don't understand how some are unable to get the point of this. Cowley suggested that all of the recent stuff on the South Side was a massive conspiracy orchestrated by Cooper and Williams. That is what KW and Coop are saying is slander, not that Coop went and asked for his own extension. So no, Cooper isn't confirming what Cowley said.

Cowley is a goddamn hack and a piece of shit human being (read his tweets right after that Japanese Earthquake to confirm this if you have too). Good riddance to that shitbag.

It is too bad this interview was done by M and H

I love when Sox fans get into the fine print and what they think is fact.

Coop confirmed

1. He did go to Rick Hahn
2. Then went to Kenny after trade deadline

So we can assume he went to Rick Hahn in July. Cowley reported he went to Kenny. Yes, You are correct then Cooper did not go to Kenny in July as Cowley reported. However, I think it is a safe assumption that Rick Hahn went to Kenny and told him that Cooper came to him about his contract, in July.

To try and tell me that cooper had no conversation directly with Kenny in July is semantics at this point of how the message was communicated.

I don't think Coopers intent was to undermine Ozzie, he was looking out for himself, I have no issue with that.

However, I do think Kenny saw a chance to annoy Ozzie further under the guise of "regular business"

I didn't say anything about who talked to who. The issue being brought up is Cowley being Slanderous. Look up the definition and get back to me. You cannot make statements like Cowley made without proof. Either you did not read what I wrote, or you couldn't help preventing yourself from taking a shot at a White Sox fan. The whole thing about when so-so talked to so-so is just Cowley/Ozzie bitching about Cooper "breaking protocol". Cooper works for the fucking White Sox, who cares that he talked to management independently. Do you blame him for doing so?

Cooper is being retained because he is one of the top 3 pitching coaches in the league, not because he is Kenny's snitch. Furthermore, those two were not involved in a massive conspiracy to usurp Ozzie via a "coup" (Cowley/Ozzies word, not mine). Coop predates Ozzie and is around after Ozzie because he is really fucking good at his job, not because he managed to work with Kenny in getting Ozzie fired.

Cowley is a fucking tabloid writer. Cubs fans love this shit, because it allows them to forget about the fanboy they have running the Cubs. Then they bitch about "Sox fans caring more about the Cubs" when its convient.

I love it when message board operators pretend like they have better insight than everybody else.

Amazing how that happened around the same time as Cowley started ripping the Sox.

Who's this Cooper guy, Cecil? I know there was a Cooper on the 49ers who scored a touchdown in that 80's Superbowl in Detroit....#48 or was it #49? Weren't they playing the Reds that year?

So long everybody. :salut: :-D :aaargh:

Like Jay, Cowley is a good writer. I do not deny he has an edge to grind with Kenny, but yet claims he likes Kenny and the Sox?

All that said, he reports what information he has. he has talked about it on the air, that he asks Cooper and Kenny for their side of things and they dont want to talk to him.

So while Cowley might not always be 100% right, he has the basic story right, I just see Kenny and Coop often calling Cowley a LIAR on the details. Once again, that does not mean they are right either.

Did the Cora text thing happen? YES

Did Ozzie got to Miami? YES

Did Cooper cut his own deal with Kenny? YES

Cowley reported all of these things first. Are his details the same as the way Kenny and Coop claimed these things happened? No

But if they are not going to talk to him he will report what his one sided source , The Guillens, tell him.

Slanderous...lol.....OK Kenny, using North's lawyers on this one? Because when you get into a slander suit, the other sides lawyers drag all your personal shit into the public and I would guess Kenny doesnt want it

I wouldn't have as much of a problem with him if he would stop referring to himself as a "journalist" or "reporter." Those two professions are paid to report the facts objectively. He needs to embrace his being a "columnist." That way, he can write anything he wants, from his Guillen point-of-view, and then, the criticism he gets would be unwarranted.

He really acts like he's the Guillen family's consigliere. That act grew tired years ago. Bless him for hanging onto it til the very, bitter end.

Sorry BF, Cowley isn't a good writer. His shit writings are almost as bad as Mac's incoherent columns. Cowley is nothing more than a PR flack for the loser Guillen clan. He and Oney are two drunks with big mouths.

You don't become a a featured columnist at a major paper without being a good writer. You might not like what he writes, what he calls himself or his style, but like Jay M he is actually a good writer.

What other pitching coach goes on a radio tirade like that? He needs to pick up his towel and shut the fuck up. Regardless of how people feel about Cowley he didn't just pull this entire thing out of his ass and fabricate it...there is some substance to it.

Sure you do. The newspaper business is dying, you hire some shithead like Cowley to create controversy to try to sell some papers. His writing ability is piss poor. He is a bad writer. Jay was a talented writer, also a shithead, but he could write. Joe can't.

I thought one of the bigger points was Kenny asking Ozzie about extensions for his staff when his contract was extended and Ozzie said "Let them sweat." Ozzie is the same guy bitching in September about wanting an extension but he didn't want one for his assistants? Good riddance to the immature, sensitive egomaniac.

I know they're afraid of making Cooper mad, but would somebody please train him how to hold the phone so we can understand what he's saying?

Every week it's muffled because he's doing something with his phone so he sounds like Charlie Brown's teacher half the time.

Please and Thank you.

Just wait until the "White Castle Pregame" tonight when Rongey talks to him before the Marlins' series begins. I know they're sponsored segments, not just on the White Sox Radio Network, but also with "Mully & Hanley" on the flagship once a week. Don Cooper always sounds cranky for reasons I can't figure.
