100% with this thought. If you dislike him, there are a lot of things that might bother you. Despite his so called bragging, he is about as regular guy as you will find in big time radio. I think he talks a lot about himself to connect with the audience. The guy is genuine and honest with the listeners often sharing personal information or expressing his true thoughts rather than toeing the corporate line.

As I posted in a different thread, I thought he was pretty accurate in his assessment of the happenings on CSFMB.

Funny stuff there. Mac's a phony, a lazy one at that.

I maintain that the part of Mac that talks about himself, his family, his possessions, is a direct result of being around Dahl for those years at AM 1000. It's radio verite, and it's what made me a fan of Dahl & Meier. I don't look at it as Mac bragging, as much as it's his way of being relatable to his audience.

I dont think 99.9% of the listening audience can relate to a guy who lives in THE premier gated community in Northwest Indiana, who says he doesnt get out of bed for six figure contracts, who constantly talks about the 487 flat screens he has in his basement etc.

Great for him, I dont begrudge him a thing, I just dont care to hear about it all the time.

How is it relatable to an audience that probably takes home 10% of what Mac makes?

Mac's recent quality decline in all things radio coupled with his lashing out at the board causes me to think that this whole thing is simply a cry for radio help from Danny Mac.

Again, people that don't care for him will find many reasons to complain. But his personal stuff can easily help him related to the audience, examples:

1) Fishing trips to Canada,
2) Problems with his marriage,
3) Weight problems,
4) Talking about his children,
5) Favorite movies,
6) Watching games in a hall of fame room,
7) Enjoying certain foods/grilling,

I am sure many of you can related to at least one if not several of those items. The fact that he has been successful and lives in a good neighborhood does not make him a snooty jerk. This is one host who has tried hard to meet the masses. When I met him in person, he was a very down to earth and real person.

Mac's no snob. The few times I've met him he was a very friendly guy and very open to listening to the unwashed masses.

I understand if you don't want to take me up on this offer Mac, but I would be willing to be a paid consultant to help fix your show. I can guarantee that I can turn the message board negativity tide around and return you to the heroic status that you once had.

Glad you had the same experience. I get that people don't like his radio style. I find him to be the perfect match for my tastes in radio.

Haha, I'd recommend gloopan for consulting services. Could you imagine gloop showing up in Mac's house in a white van with his avatar on the side of it? That would be something to see.

I really feel like I should say something negative now, just to keep up the board reputation.

Mac's complexion looked a little dry.

That probably wouldn't look that much out of the norm for NW Indiana.

Mac may have an exclusive on the premier gated community in Northwest Indiana, but anyone can get the little blue pill!

It's not exactly breaking news that I loathe McNeil/Spiegs :puker: :pukel:
as much as certain people here loathe Vampire Weekend.
This is my sports radio bio:
I started listening to ESPN 1000 starting around 1999.
Back when Dan Patrick actually had show worth listening to, Tony Kornheiser my all time fave, and Huge and Lou Canellis.
I moved to L.A. in 1-01 for about 4 months, came back, and there was this new show on in it's (huge & Lou) place.
I listened for a little while, but I could just not get past Harry's voice, Jurko's meatheadedness, and McNeil's braggadocio.
So I started listening to John Williams, or music.
Somewhere around 2005, I was flipping stations, and landed on 670, for my first WYC. I was hooked on B&B ever since.
I liked M&H at the 10-12 slot, and I actually liked Murph's show.
When McNeil got his new SCR show, I tried to listen to it.
The same shit that bothered me about MJH was STILL there, but it was actually Matt Spiegel
that I just couldn't fucking tolerate. He annoys me more than Teinowitz ever did, and that's no small feat.
From what little I actually pay attention in regard to The DANNY MAC SHOW :puker:,
it seems as though the rose has lost it's bloom.

I may be an anti-dentite, but I'm no anti-semite.
Just happens to be coincidental about their ethnicity.
(Big Bernstein FAN, BTW)
I don't know how anyone could stand the nasal dulcet
tones of an unfunny comedian (Harry) for 25 hours a week.
As far as SPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEGGGGGGGGGGGGS,
I hate the fucking Feldco jingle, his would-be battle of
intellect with Bernstein is laughable. He's never won an argument.
When he's on Chicago Tribune Live, the way he speaks and the condescending
smirk on his face half the time, ARRRRRRGH, FUCK IT. I JUST FLAT OUT CAN"T STAND HIM.

I agree with A7X. I've never thought Dan telling about his life was bragging. The guy seems willing to share his largesse with everyone. His large ass on the other hand is only shared with a few.

No, it's just the career path he has chosen to follow, Mike North's.

Mac has made his choices and probably needs another therapist, his 8th.

I was one of many who interrupted his smoke breaks at the golf outing and he couldn't have been nicer. Didn't see him big time one person. Spiegs is the same way. good men

This....well put. 8)

..and for people that can't relate, it's what they wish for, for the most part. Hell, I can't really relate (I have one 42" LED, that's it, otherwise poor as shit and in major debt). I still like to hear about cool guy stuff.
