I can't see it extending beyond tomorrow either way. Ricketts better have a good backup plan if Epstein tells him to go fuck himself.

I bet it's Robin Ventura.

Perhaps if Theo falls through we can convince Konerko to be a player/GM

I don't get Cub fans, I really don't. First of all, Lou is more accomplished than Theo. He won a World Series with the Reds with 0 HOF players on the roster (Larkin is borderline, but not a slam-dunk). The only other manager to do that in the last 20 years just got run out of town. He also turned Seattle from a graveyard into a perenial contender. Secondly, how hard is it to be a GM with a payroll like the Red Sox? It is like starting an auction draft in a fantasy league with 3x the amount of draft dollars. Yes they have a great farm system, but they can also afford to have bad contracts like Lackey and Dice-K and still go out and sign Gonzalez.

Lou wasn't the manager or leader with the Cubs that he once was with the Reds & Mariners.

Ozzie & his dumb fuck kids ran him out of town.

Theo won 2 World Series with a franchise that was in a similar position that the Cubs are in.

Your just mad because the south side minor league ball-club just hired a manager who has never ever coached or managed AT ANY LEVEL, while the Cubbies just hired the hottest rising young baseball star executive in the game.
It's gonna feel strange giving Ricketts a shoutout for this move, but I'll give him his props if he can pull this off.

i am not a fan of piniella, i saw him have the best team in baseball 2 times, and the first time he did not even make the world series..the second time he got swept by the dodgers in the first round.i also saw joe maddon come in and clean up his mess and do a 180 with the rays as soon as lou was run out of town...epstein has a big payroll yes, but he also won 2 titles in a short period of time in the hardest division in baseball.

A 90 win per year team in the AL East is a minimum 95 win per year team in the NL Central.

That's a perfectly reasonable thing to say, but I'm not sure it's really true. That's the beauty of baseball. It's a funny game.

Of course. My only issue is that 100% of Cubs fans view Theo as the savior. It's so crazy that they are willing to trade Starlin Castro for him.

This is just a speaking in generalities bit right? Who said they would trade Castro for Theo?

Whats crazy is that 100% of sox fans say Kenny is a genius and Ozzie was the problem.

Ozzie won a world series and now all sox fans say he was terrible. I dont get it.

Who's on the untouchable list?

Castro for sure
Garza for sure
Jackson, most likely
Mcnutt?
Szczur?
Baez?
Maples?

Going to have to give up at least one high B type guy I'd assume.

This will be interesting. It's not like Boston hasn't gave rhetoric that Theo wouldn't be there forever and they can envision life after him. He only has one year left on his deal so they don't have a ton of leverage. But then again, this is Tom Ricketts presumably negotiating this package? Which is terrifying.

Hasnt there been a bunch of reports saying it will be $ compensation.

Something weird about a GM being traded for a player.

I don't think it's fair to generalize that all Sox fans felt that way.

I think its szczur. It can't be Baez or Maples as you either can't be traded until 1 year after you have been drafted or 1 year after you have signed. This is why they sometimes use the PTBNL in trades as they must wait for that 1 year limit to expire. They wouldn't wait 9-10 months to get these guys though.

Shit that's right. Good call. The Red Sox are in turmoil though and appear to want to make changes just for change sake. Mid-Level prospect and call it a day hopefully.

WEEI radio reporting that the deal is done. Only compensation left. 5 years 15 million. Done by weekend in all likelihood.

Once again, your 100% savior thing is incorrect. The only person I've even heard suggest Starlin Castro for Theo is Daniel. He's not even suggesting you make that deal. He's suggesting in his mind, it would be worth it.
