Walkrman is ok. He's just caught up in the "Theo is the savior and is a lock to win the World Series here" pandemonium. Can you blame him? All his Cub friends think the same thing.

Just my heart.

I'm withholding my boner over this until I hear an official announcement. Don't want to Dave McGinnis this situation.

Everyone agrees that Sox fans are smarter than Cub fans, so I agree, it's a little bit unfair to lump the very few Sox fans that say crazy things with the 100% of Cub fans that say things like "End the wait in 2008" and "Theo is the savior".

Very few Sox fans say crazy things because 90% of them are illiterate or speak no english.

You want to talk smart fans? Why dont you listen to Rongey's show and hear the idiot Sox fans who call in. They are a 100% accurate representation of the Sox fanbase.

And I never got the whole "Buehrle's career is better than Maddux's"

Thats just anti cub fan bullshit

It surprising how one very good move can instantly make you feel better about an organization that has been crap for 2 years running.

Reminds me of the Dallas Green hire, "the Cubs are coming out of hiiiiiiiiiiiibernation...."

If you had to live with Mike Fucking Quade and Jim Hendry, you'd be happy too. It's been a tough couple years.

I actually do not feel good about the Cubs at all. The players on the ML roster suck and so do most of the players in the minors. And the Cubs are shackeled with a bunch of shitty contracts

I will feel somewhat better if/when the Cubs ditch Soriano and Zambrano and sign Fielder.

This has nothing to do with the Sox. It has to do with how 100% of Cubs fans think Theo is the savior.

I'm quitting this conversation until someone proves me wrong.

But you should feel good going forward. You just got a proven GM who yeah had money to sign big guys, but also develops players in the minors.

Don't expect much out of the Coob in 2012, 2013 or maybe even 2014. But they could be a power house in 4 or 5 years.

His first act should be launching Quade on Day 1.

Yes, the first act to show there's a new sheriff in town should be to toss the obviously fired crackers manager. He should bludgeon him on the Santo statue, and proceed to use his lifeless corpse to kill seven goats.

Why are people so hung up on Quade? He's a bad major league manager who will be gone soon. Let it be.

I can understand some tempered enthusiasm, but to "not feel good about anything" at this point is absurd. This was a good move for your team and you have a real reason to optimistic about this team's future.

And keep in mind, I'm a Sox fan saying this shit.

I believe Theo will bring a minimum of 8 World Series titles to the Cubs starting next year. Kerry Wood will be a player manager.

Ok. Let's figure this out. Theo got a 5 year deal. I think everybody agrees that they can't win a World Series in the next 2 years. Not with the current state of the team and contracts of bad players.

So, if he does every thing right -drafting, developing, trades and free agents - the Cubs can compete in year 3 of his deal. That means he has 3 years to win a World Series before his deal is up. Now, I suppose he can get a new deal if Ricketts thinks they're on the right track. But, Cubs fans will look at the bottom line at that point. They'll be angry and want the next hot shot GM

He won't do it.

IT'S NOT GONNA HAPPEN

Oh yeah. And in 5 years Bernstein will being saying that the Cubs need a new, slick, fast talking Jewish guy to shake down the mayor for money. He'll say that Theo's worth has expired in this regard. That all J.ews have a shelf life in their "Money Grab" abilities.

And all you B&B people will buy it.
